Tibata Says If Chibi-Robo Came To Wii U He Would Be “Very, Very Shiny”

Siliconera recently caught up with Chibi-Robo! Zip Lash! Assistant Director, Risa Tabata, along with the series Producer Kensuke Tanabe, mainly to talk about the upcoming Nintendo 3DS game. But the publication couldn’t resist asking the duo what they would do with the power of the Wii U at their disposal rather than the less powerful Nintendo 3DS. Tibet answered by saying that they would make him “Very, very shiny.”

How would you approach making a Chibi-Robo game on the technology offered by the Wii U?

RT: Well, one thing we’d be excited about is making Chibi-Robo very, very shiny! Since the system is hi-Definition and all…not just Chibi-Robo, but the environment! Like in Pikmin 3, actually

      1. I’m just hoping for a Wii U anything late next year beyond “Zelda”. I really hope they don’t kill it too early.

  1. That would be an interesting game mechanic, actually. If he was really shiny you could build a whole game out of using his body as a mirror to reflect light back and forth, and you’d have to avoid getting dirty… hmm!

  2. At least we know what he’s planning to do once Zip Lash sell well. That is, if it will actually happen unlike Codename S.T.E.A.M.

    1. Clearly the eshop one sold enough for them to go with a physical release and an amiibo to boot. He’s also got the whole adorable thing going, and quite the fanbase in Japan. I’m pretty sure Steam just didn’t feel very Nintendo to people, whereas adorable platforming is Nintendo’s famous faux gras.

    2. The problem with Codename S.T.E.A.M. wasn’t that it was a bad game.
      It was a fantastic game.
It was just terribly marketed. I still have no idea when it released, so I was super confused when people started talking about amiibo with the game.

  3. Yes please!! The little guy running around a detailed world like Pikmin 3 would be fantastic! I really enjoyed Photo Finder on the 3DS… Well, except the stupid photo duds…
