This morning saw Square Enix announce Dragon Quest XI for a variety of platforms, but the all-important question we are all asking is whether the game will come to the west. Well, it seems as though Square Enix isn’t completely sure at present. The last instalment for the Dragon Quest series for consoles Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King made is way to the west and was a success. However, Dragon Quest X didn’t come over, but that was a massively multiplayer online title and would have required some extra work with the translations and the servers. There’s a likely hood that it will come, but expect a lengthy delay between the Japanese version and the western one.
“The Japanese publisher stated it understandably doesn’t have “a concrete plan at the moment”, but it’ll “consider it as [it has] done in the past for other Dragon Quest titles”.

If they can release Dragon Quest Heroes over here… they are DEFINATELY releasing it west. It’ll make more money than that game! Look at the success of Ni No Kuni, there is a demand!
Dragon Quest The New Super Mario Bros ! i’m not trolling but we are seeing more and more of these games which are following suit like mario. I feel a facepalm coming on
Sadly demand is not always that important to developers. Look at Sega or Capcom.
and stop. now i must go live into japan >:(
DQ has always been a third-rate RPG franchise, no loss there if it’s anything like its 10 predecessors.
Did you play any DQ game? The best ones are first-rate traditional jRPG.
I’m tired of this Dragon Quest BS. Difficult achievements are usually sweeter, but there is a limit from which it becomes sour and bitter.
why do people even like these dragon quest games. they look like another generic jrpg
Because some of us like traditional jRPG with command inputs.
And the monster and character designs are from Akira Toriyama, so it’s far from generic.

I love DQ games and hope it comes to the US.
I want Secret of Mana and Legend of Mana revivals! !!
Really!? We’ve been begging for another game for 5 years, and you STILL aren’t sure to bring ONE, out of the many DQ games made ever since 9, overseas!?
It’s not coming to the West. Lmaoo. Of course it’s not coming.
Plenty of publishers have been bringing Japanese and anime-esque games to the west lately, especially on PlayStation consoles. They’re testing our market with the Dragon Quest / Dyntasty Warriors crossover, so hopefully that goes well. And if not… Eh, do what Ni No Kuni did and bring at least one version over.

Newsflash, Square Enix. You won’t ever know how well the Dragon Quest games will fair these days in the West if you NEVER bring one to the West! It seems you guys are also ran by idiots just like Nintendo. :/
And sadly, a crossover with the Warriors/Musou franchise from Koei Tecmo is NOT a good test. Hyrule Warriors is not a good test to see if people still want Zelda because it’s not a true Zelda game. You might lure some fans from the other franchise to yours but it’s a temporary boost in sales as they’ll get bored of a game they don’t really like the gameplay of.

I’m sick of Square Enix doing this to us! It’s hard to live this series when they never think of is westerners and constantly release the games on shitty Nintendo consoles.
