At the GameStop Managers Conference in Las Vegas, Nintendo announced that the New Nintendo 3DS system will launch in the U.S. as part of a special bundle on Sept. 25. The bundle includes the new hand-held system, the upcoming Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer game, two cover plates and one amiibo card at a suggested retail price of $219.99. The more compact New Nintendo 3DS system joins New Nintendo 3DS XL, which has been available since Feb. 13.

In addition, a Hyrule Edition New Nintendo 3DS XL system will launch exclusively in GameStop stores on Oct. 30 at a suggested retail price of $199.99, just in time for the launch of The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes(sold separately) on Oct. 23. The system is gold-colored and features an intricate Hylian Crest on the front.

Other news revealed at the GameStop Conference included the debut of three new Wii Remote Plus controllers inspired by classic Mushroom Kingdom characters Bowser, Toad and Yoshi.

“More than 15 million systems in the Nintendo 3DS family have been sold in the U.S. alone,” said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s Executive Vice President of Sales & Marketing. “These new models offer additional fun ways to experience some of the great upcoming Nintendo 3DS games launching in the next few months.”

New Nintendo 3DS incorporates all the same enhanced features as the New Nintendo 3DS XL system, including a wider range of controls, face-tracking 3D and built-in NFC functionality that allows for communication with amiibo figures. The compact system also features interchangeable cover plates that can be easily swapped out to change the look of the device. Two cover plates inspired by Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer are included in the bundle.

Various amiibo cards launch with the Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer game on Sept. 25. Tapping compatible amiibo cards while playing Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer is a way to meet favorite Animal Crossing characters with their separate personalities and design requests in the game. People who own the Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo 3DS XL or Nintendo 2DS systems can still use the cards to enjoy Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designerby purchasing the Nintendo 3DS NFC Reader/Writer accessory at a suggested retail price of $19.99. The wireless accessory also launches on Sept. 25 and allows players to enjoy amiibo figures and cards on all other systems in the Nintendo 3DS family.

Joining previously released Wii Remote Plus controllers themed after Mario, Luigi and Princess Peach, three new controllers inspired by Bowser, Toad and Yoshi will launch exclusively at GameStop at a suggested retail price of $39.99 each. The Bowser and Toad controllers will launch alongside the Super Mario Maker game for the Wii U console on the 11th of September, while the Yoshi version will hop on the back of the Yoshi’s Woolly World launch on Oct. 16. Wii Remote Plus includes Wii MotionPlus technology, and works with all Wii and Wii U games that are compatible with Wii Remote controllers.

Bowser, the newest member of the Photos with Mario series of Nintendo eShop Cards, is coming this fall – exclusively at GameStop. Customers can add $10 to their Nintendo eShop accounts and get the new Bowser AR card at no additional cost. With the Bowser AR card, players can use their Nintendo 3DS systems to play and pose with Bowser and other Mushroom Kingdom characters in the free Photos with Mario app

      1. Its really cool but also a bit sneaky for Nintendo to debut the small N3DS within a bundle… cool because it’s finally fu**ing here :D! Sneaky because you need to spend more on it.

  1. Good. Although I’m satisfied with my New 3DS XL this is great news for the people who wanted the standard model. Now it’s time for those same people to show their appreciation by going out there and purchasing it

  2. Damn you Nintendo and Xbox for releasing great things today… Now I need to choose which one to get Xbox Elite or Nintendo 3DS!!! Thank you Nintendo for actually listening to the fans! Your late but I’m happy!

  3. Yes! I knew it had to come! I’ve been waiting so long to get a regular New Nintendo 3DS. I love my current 3DS but its age is starting to show. Now I can finally upgrade and buy some of them plates too. If I can’t get it alone than I don’t really care if I have to get the Animal Crossing one. Either way, it looks like I can finally get one!

      1. But the zelda one is gameless. It just has a different face plate. The animal crossing one is good though.

    1. Ok, this needs to be addressed.

There are 3 types of 3ds owners here:
The ones who’ve wanted a new regular sized 3ds, those who are content with what they already have, and those who have an XL and resent the regular size.
My thing is, if XL owners love the XL so much, why are you so annoyed from the regular size’s existence? Are you jealous because you don’t have swappable faceplates? Is it a superiority complex? What gives?
At this point, the only people “whining” are the XL fanboys telling regular-size people to stop their legitimate complaints, which if you haven’t noticed, have very much stopped. Stop being salty, go enjoy your system, and let others do the same.

  4. Eh, it’s just aesthetics. I got over the color choice of my regular Nintendo 3DS (I bought a Cosmo Black one) within a week.

Besides, I already have the Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate New Nintendo 3DS XL. I don’t really need this anymore.

    1. I don’t think so. If 4Chan and Tumblr taught me anything, the amount of bitching will always be infinite no matter how many good things happen.

  5. …..I FUCKING KNEW IT!! I KNEW NTD WAS GONNA BRING THE SMALLER 3DS WITH THE BAD ASS COVER PLATES TO AMERICA!!!

I hate to say I told you so…..BUT I TOLD YOU SO!!!

      1. Its more of a trap then a mistake, and its all related to marketing. Damn Nintendo, they are playing with their fan base and it all began with amiibo. Too bad that the only way to get the NA version of the New 3ds is through the bundle, which will surely suck in some of its buyers to buy more amiibo cards to play with animal crossing.

  7. I already got the XL Nintendo, damn you. But I really do prefer the larger model, I just would’ve wanted to have the faceplates.
But knowing me and my money ways, I wouldn’t have had much money to spend on faceplates anyways.

  8. Fucking shit, I just moved and can’t afford to buy a console right now. I can kiss that Zelda N3DSXL goodbye as I won’t be seeing that for $200 in the future. -_- luck is not with me now a days.

    1. I hope we get the black ones too. It would make those Xenoblade plate covers look so much better. It’ll still look good though. I wonder how long I should wait?

  12. Are people really surprised by this?

The only aspect that surprises me is they didn’t schedule it closer to the holidays.
A cheaper version around that time would’ve been a good strategy.

    But, whatever.
    Saw this coming.

  13. But I thought that said it couldn’t come to NA? Is Nintendo doing this or Gamestop? Or did Nintendo change their minds? Wtf, I’m so confused right now.
