The Nintendo DS truly had some great games, but which were the best-sellers? Well, VGChartz has produced a top ten best-sellers list which should answer the question. The Nintendo DS is the second best-selling gaming platform after the PlayStation 2 and is also the best-selling handheld of all-time. It had a range of innovative and unique titles and really had something for everyone. Here’s the best-selling video games on the handheld platform.
10th. Super Mario 64 DS – 10.28 Million
9th. Pokémon HeartGold/SoulSilver – 11.75 Million
8th. Animal Crossing: Wild World – 12.12 Million
7th. Pokémon Black/White – 15.13 Million
6th. Brain Age 2: More Training in Minutes a Day – 15.29 Million
5th. Pokémon Diamond/Pearl – 18.24 Million
4th. Brain Age: Train Your Brain in Minutes a Day – 20.14 Million
3rd. Mario Kart DS – 23.18 Million
2nd. Nintendogs – 24.67 Million
1st. New Super Mario Bros. – 29.73 Million
I wonder if the top 4 being in bundles ridiculously affected their standings…..hmmmmm
I don’t think so honestly. Most people don’t buy handheld bundles, rather they just buy the console itself. Bundles are not as common place on handhelds as they are on consoles. They do exist obviously. But if you walk into any game store, you will see a shelf full of stand alone 3ds’s. Bundles usually are pre ordered or bought online…
Lock’s Quest anyone? That’s easily my #1 favorite DS game. Awesome story, super cool setting and theme, amazing soundtrack, and addicting gameplay. I loved everything about it. I wonder why I never hear anyone talk about it. Is it just not very well known? A hidden gem?
That game is really good but I wouldn’t say it is my top ds game.
Never heard of it lol wt kind of game is it?
New Super Mario Bros. is first? I HATED that game!
Or, well, I didn’t care much for it.
154 million NDS SKU sold, but the highest sold game is only 30 million?
I wonder if the DS also fell to the same fate that the PSP fell in. I know the DS was pirated, but I didn’t think it was as bad.
If you know how many games the DS actually has it’s really not that strange.
I’m aware of the amount of games, its rediculous, but they all didn’t hit the 1 million mark. Even so, that would mean that the attachment rate was rediculously low.
But… what about the used game/resell factor? That is something not taken into acount… how many of that 30 million were sold 4 times over?
Yeah that is true. I didn’t take that into consideration, I still think it’s a bit low but used game sales probably affect those numbers.
