        1. I think it was misinformation coupled with the fact that Reggie was a guest at the event. People clearly thought we would get something new, but nope!

            1. Jaded Ridley X3 {I'm not whining, you suckers... *cough* ..poor souls! I've just been driven insane by Nintendo failing me one too many times this gen!}

Nope. Nintendo just gave that rather weak Iwata Tribute & nothing else. :/ So you’re lucky you didn’t let that hope make you either watch it or play it in the background of your computer.

  1. I’m also pretty pissed that Nintendo showed, again, nothing. The only thing we saw them for was the tribute for Iwata, which of course was touching and appreciated.
But as for news? Nothing of course. It’s like they just want the investors to run to other companies.

On another note, the host mentioned how 2015 was a great year for gaming. Excuse me, but when the only nominees for awards are the exact same games, it just tells me that only a handful were good this year. That’s not a good year for gaming.

However, the choices for the awards were well-deserved. So there’s that.

  2. Jaded Ridley X3 {I'm not whining, you suckers... *cough* ..poor souls! I've just been driven insane by Nintendo failing me one too many times this gen!}

I’m so gonna get The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt for my PS4 before the summer of 2016! And sorry, Nintendo, but you definitely do not deserve Developer of the Year.

  3. 💃I'm a Boss Ass Bitch💯

This was shit. The bitches on stage that couldn’t even fucking sing. Some games shouldn’t even won some awards. Nintendo didn’t even show shit so why was Reggie there? Oh Iwata’s tribute could have been 10× better then that shit that was showcased. I get the need to show some fucking respect to a fallen comrade. either do it in supreme quality or don’t fucking do it at all. Oh that bitch was singing that Metal Gear Solid theme song was just fucking horribly terrible. My fucking ears bled listening to the trifling bitch. 2 fucking hrs wasted. Maybe that’s why nintendo didn’t show anything because the atmosphere they had going there would only have been a fucking of their time.

    1. i honestly still dont understand why artists were there to play live music. idk what the music added other than a few extra minutes to the show. it was a nice addition that they did it all, but i dont think it was really necessary

      1. 💃I'm a Boss Ass Bitch💯

No it wasn’t. I was unnecessary prelongness that was a fucking waste of my Damn time. Never watching that shit again.

    2. Hey you. SHUT YOUR BIG FAT MOUTH UP! YOU DARE TO DISS A TRIBUTE TO MR. IWATA?! YOU CALL YOURSELF A NINTENDO FAN?! I SPIT AT YOU, PTOOE! APOLOGIZE NOW OR ARE WE GOING TO HAVE TO GET SOMEONE REPORTED?

      1. Jaded Ridley X3 {I'm not whining, you suckers... *cough* ..poor souls! I've just been driven insane by Nintendo failing me one too many times this gen!}

Uhm. Did you even read what he said? He’s disappointed the tribute wasn’t better than what we ultimately got. How is wanting something to be better dissing it exactly? With that said, you shut up. lol

        1. Oh sorry, I didn’t know what he meant. But I liked it. I actually started to cry when I saw it. BUT HE SHOULDN’T TALK LIKE THAT ABOUT ANY TRIBUTE OF MR. IWATA! But Nintendo won two awards plus they’re still BUSY with Zelda Wii U, duh! This is to the other guy not you.

      2. 💃I'm a Boss Ass Bitch💯

You need to be fucking slap in the fucking face. I’m dishing how it was presented. Spit at me? Learn some fucking home decency you fucking disgusting bitch.

          1. 💃I'm a Boss Ass Bitch💯

So I’m a little tired so I’m prepared to get fucking wrecked. My mental state is fucking deplenished after watching 2 hrs of bullshit

                      1. Sounds perfect! Speaking of that I’m going to return Black ops 3 in favor or Xenoblade X

                        1. 💃I'm a Boss Ass Bitch💯

Return that shit. Drop that piece of shit and go scoop up a piece of gold bro.

                          1. Dude I only played the game twice and got tired of it. I never touched that shit ever since. I’ve been pretty busy so I didn’t get the chance to return it, but I’ll try and get Xenoblade today or tomorrow.

          2. I totally agree about the Iwata tribute. In a weird way I found it to be kind of disrespectful, other than the speeches. They tried so hard to pull at your heart strings, it was over the top and unnecessary.

I felt like I was watching a Sarah McLachlan commercial.

Here I’ll do what the Game Awards did… Just replace this with Iwata pictures and you have your tribute from the Game Awards. why Pearl Jam, wtf…

            1. I can’t watch videos like that. I love animals way, way more than I care about humans. I live with two large dogs rescues, and donate to multiple wolf conservatories to help my brothers.

        1. Jaded Ridley X3 {I'm not whining, you suckers... *cough* ..poor souls! I've just been driven insane by Nintendo failing me one too many times this gen!}

And all of my reasons for having it play on the background of the desktop on a separate tab were total crap. No new Nintendo content & Mark Hamill was only there to give out an award! I knew I should have kept my expectations incredibly low when Nintendo is involved. :/

            1. Jaded Ridley X3 {I'm not whining, you suckers... *cough* ..poor souls! I've just been driven insane by Nintendo failing me one too many times this gen!}

Considering a few others did world premiers of new shit, is it too much to ask for Nintendo to do the same? Besides, award shows, especially ones getting a lot of attention, are some of the best places to show off something no one was expecting. But I’ll just chalk it up to the very strong possibility that Nintendo probably didn’t have anything worth showing off anyway.

          1. Nintendo was not running this event. You’re so dense, it’s actually kind of pitiful. The whole show was a crapfest. And you’re blaming… Nintendo?…. LOL

I’m just glad EVERYONE watching now hopefully sees Konami for the pieces of shit that they are.

            1. Jaded Ridley X3 {I'm not whining, you suckers... *cough* ..poor souls! I've just been driven insane by Nintendo failing me one too many times this gen!}

No more pitiful than you getting upset over my opinion. ;3

          1. Well It’s being said that Splatoon won that award too but the VGA officials probably didn’t announce it there because of the bad reception the game got when it won ” Best Multiplayer Game Of The Year “. I guess they didn’t want to upset the COD, Halo or the Fallout fanboys but if it’s true that Splatoon won that award, that’s real fucked up on Geoff Keighley’s part that he allowed that bullshit to happen

        2. The show was quite the letdown, in my opinion.
Also, some of the winners are questionable, to say the least. For example, I can’t be the only one who can’t understand how Greg Miller won an award in a people’s choice category, while competing with people like Markiplier and Pewdiepie – don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying he didn’t deserve it. It just seems pretty hard to believe that Greg Miller got more votes than two of the most watched/followed gaming channels on Youtube. Very strange.
Also, I’m shocked Undertale didn’t win any award. Extremely disappointed about that.

          1. Oh, forgot to mention, my favourite part probably was Geoff calling out Konami for not allowing Kojima to attend the awards. Huge props to him for that one.

          2. Greg isn’t big on YouTube but his PS army is enormous. I’ll bet my left nut that if only his streaming watchers voted he wouldn’t have won, but since he kept asking all the Kinda Funny Audience and even IGN audience to some extent, that is what edge him over the other guys.

I actually like the guy, he’s the only one who can put Collin in his place from time to time. I like Collin too but he a bit of a know it all that has a hard time admiting he’s wrong or that his opinion is just that, his opinion.

            1. Hmm, I see. But you have to consider that Markiplier has 10+ million subscribers, and the last time I heard, Pewdiepie was at 40 million. So even if Greg’s army is huge, I’m having doubts about it being as big as Markiplier’s, let alone Pewdiepie’s. But perhaps the other two simply didn’t promote their nomination, as opposed to Greg, I don’t know. Seems strange either way though.

But yea, as mentioned in my comment above, I’m not saying he didn’t deserve the award, not at all. He’s a good guy, and I liked his speech when he was announced to be the winner. He said some really nice things. Also, sometimes it’s just nice to have the smaller guys get some awards, and seeing how he really is a gamer at heart, saying he doesn’t deserve it would be uncalled for anyway, in my opinion.

        3. This year VGAs was a major letdown but my favorite moment aside from the tribute to the late great Satoru Iwata was when Splatoon won Best Multiplayer Game Of The Year, mainly because of the reaction from the crowd. They were stunned, shocked and in disbelief but Splatoon did indeed deserved to win but that crowd reaction was priceless and I loved it LMAO!!!

                      1. I respect your opinion, I personally didnt like it, but Ive never liked any MGS game (aside from Metal Gear Rising) I keep trying them though but I never finish them. Like I said though, Mario Maker was one of the great gems that Nintendo did have this year. Definite goty worthy but I still think Witcher took it.

          1. Yep. Way overrated game. I played it only due to the overwhelming recommendations. Starts out with a nude ass shot. Rest of what I played was very boring. And easily one of the worst combat systems in a AAA game I’ve ever experienced. But, oh well. Not like the awards actually matter.

        4. Where was the content Nintendo was supposed to show??? Are they gonna show it behind closed doors or something??

Also, I don’t see how Nintendo doesn’t deserve Developer of the Year. With SMM, Splatoon, Xenoblade X and lots of Smash and Splat DLC, It’s been a good year for them. And I haven’t even touched on the 3DS or amiibo.

Instead a studio that only released one game, ONE GAME, won developer of the year. Like what?

          1. Yeah I was shocked that Projekt CD Red won Developer Of The Year when they only made one fucking game and the same goes for the rest of the other developers that was nominated aside from Nintendo. The way I see it, Nintendo were the only ones that was deemed win that award this year and they got robbed

            1. LOL. You seriously think Nintendo deserved the award for developer of the year? For what? Giving people a terrible Mario Tennis rehash with barely any differences from the previous recent entries, and awful online multiplayer? Taking one of people’s most beloved franchises, which is Animal Crossing, and turning it into a shitty party game nobody even asked for, that was supposed to be free but turned out to be at full-price and additionally requires you to buy amiibo, while they exactly know how big the demand for a real AC game is? Giving us another Mario Party yet again with the terrible mechanics people deeply criticized the previous entry for, signalizing once again they don’t care about what their supporters say? Releasing Splatoon with a huge lack of content and features? Delaying anticipated games? Is that really developer-of-the-year material to you? To me, it certainly isn’t. This was one of Nintendo’s worst years, in my opinion. Not saying all of it is bad, as there’s still things like Xenoblade, but a developer that has done the things mentioned above in no way deserves an award for being the best, in my personal view.
CD Projekt Red didn’t win the award for the game only, but also how they handled it and what they made out of it. They absolutely deserved it.

              1. Your argument makes no sense…

First of all, you’re giving an award to a studio because of how they “handled and what they made out of the game.” Hold Nintendo to the same standard! How they handled Splatoon was amazing; great marketing, tons of free dlc, fun multiplayer/gameplay and more. Plus, the game got 8’s and above upon release, so you can’t complain about a “huge lack of content.”

Second, CD Projekt Red at the end of the day, released ONE game. Albeit a high quality game, but its unfair to give the award to a studio for one game as opposed to another studio who put out more than 3 high quality titles this year alone, and high quality DLC for existing games as well. SMM was up for GOTY just like Witcher 3. Difference is one of those two studios put out way more this year than the other.

Mind you, CD Projekt Red has only released ONE series as well. A studio that’s only released ONE series vs a developer that has multiple IP. Come on.

                1. I realize Nintendo hasn’t done bad only, as mentioned in my original comment. But as I’ve said, the negative things Nintendo has done this year, unfortunately outweigh the positive impact they’ve made, in my view.
And I don’t know if you can call it “free DLC” in regards of Splatoon, as I personally see it as things that should have been in the game to begin with, but didn’t make it because Nintendo seems to have rushed it. But I suppose people’s views on that one sorta differ. Though it just doesn’t change much about the lack of content in the first months of the game – the reviews it got during that time are irrelevant to that fact. There were barely any maps, not much variety in weapons, important features such as private battles were missing, and more. I just don’t see how “8’s” change any of that.
And even though the game itself is fun and the concept is great, it’s being poorly handled. Online multiplayer sucks for a couple of reasons: Peer to peer instead of dedicated servers. The stupid map rotation plus game mode rotation, having absolutely no choice or freedom. Not being able to create own games, with the desired maps and modes, and being able to choose games you would like to join. Sub-optimal matchmaking. All things that ruin the multiplayer experience for me personally, standing in the way of making Splatoon so much better.

As for your last argument: It’s not about what a studio has achieved during its existence, it’s about what’s been achieved during this year. And while you’re right about Nintendo having put out more games than CD PR, I’ll refer you to what I’ve said above. You can’t just evaluate the good things a developer has achieved when looking back on how well they’ve done in a year, you have to count in their negative steps as well – which in Nintendo’s case seem to be more than just a few.

                  1. I think the difference in our arguments are that Nintendo has pushed out so much content this year that they’re allowed to have some bad games.

I think the worst game Nintendo put out in 2015 is Animal Crossing Amiibo Festival. That’s really about it. Even Mario Tennis got “mixed” reviews at worst.

But Splatoon? You’re undermining just how much DLC has come to the game. It’s packed with much more content now than ever. I understand that, upon release, it was missing a few components, but now it has those in spades. The ONLY thing holding Splatoon back is lack of a good local multiplayer option.

But the online component was able to win Best Multiplayer, so… you know. The map rotation isn’t really a big deal for what kind of game it is, especially when you can just create your own match and pick whatever map you want. All those reasons you listed to be honest are either personal reasons or were rectified in a previous update. Whens the last time you played Splatoon dude?

Anyway, yeah. Lets evaluate what Nintendo has accomplished in 2015; Code name Steam, Majoras Mask 3D, Splatoon, a major Smash update (possibly a second one in December, one that kind of broke the internet), both Xenoblade Chronicles 3D and X, Super Mario Maker, Yoshi’s Wooly World, Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon, Triforce Heroes and more. Yet… you can’t just focus on the bad. Ie Mario Tennis and Amiibo Festival.

With all of these games in just one year, how is this not Dev of the year material? I’m not even saying they should’ve won, its just that they lost to a studio that, despite how good the game was, was only able to crank out one high quality game whereas Nintendo cranked out at least 5 or 6 high profile games. See what I’m saying?

Then again, I guess even having Nintendo in this category is a bit unfair because they have multiple Devs under one massive studio so, I guess it isn’t entirely fair.

                    1. Nintendo put out more games than CD PR simply because Nintendo consists of multiple dev studios (as you’ve said in your last paragraph) that mostly also are more experienced, I’ll assume. You can’t directly compare a relatively small developer like CD PR to something as big as Nintendo. But if you do, you have to take all their missteps into consideration as well, which in Nintendo’s case, as already mentioned, there’s a couple.
And as I’ve said above, it’s not only about the amount of games they put out, it’s also about the developer’s entire performance throughout the entire year, so there’s more to Nintendo’s missteps than just AC amiibo Festival and Mario Tennis.

And I realize that Splatoon offers more than what it did in its first months. In my opinion, the game started offering a fair amount of content only after the big August update, which happened several months after launch. I believe it would have been much better if Nintendo just released the game in August when all the content was ready, instead of handling the game the way they did, pricing it at $60 even back when it was pretty barebones. But yes, right now, the price tag definitely is more justified in relation to the content it offers, compared to how it used to be.

And yea, Splatoon won the award for best multiplayer, which I personally can’t understand at all. A game that works through peer to peer only can hardly be considered even a nominee for that award, in my personal opinion. Combined with other things that influence the online multiplayer experience, Splatoon just doesn’t seem to be the right choice for that award at all, in my view.
However, it certainly does deserve the award for best shooter. It’s creative, it’s different and has a great concept, in both gameplay and the whole setting, including the characters and story. Even though there were some other great nominees in that category that would have deserved the award, none of those games simply were something *entirely* new, as opposed to Splatoon. Also, the singleplayer was surprisingly good as well. So that one was well deserved. The multiplayer award, not so much, in my personal view.

And the map rotation is not a big deal? Sorry, but to me, being forced to play on the same map 7, 8 times in a row is a big deal indeed. That hasn’t happened only one or two times, but rather frequently. I mean, if there really needs to be map rotation, at least implement it better. Add more than just two maps to the rotation, make the rotation more balanced so the same map doesn’t show up so many times in a row.
And as far as I’m aware, you can not choose the map and/or mode you want to play on – at least not in ranked battles, which is the type of battles I mostly (or even only) played. I haven’t turned on the game in about two weeks or so, and that’s how things were then. If things have changed in these past two weeks, I apologize for my misinformation. But that still wouldn’t change much about it having taken so long for a basic feature like that to be available, which doesn’t seem like a positive point to me. But yea, still better late than never.
And about the other problems I have with online multiplayer, well, I honestly wouldn’t call them personal only, as I’ve seen many other people struggling with the same issues. Peer to peer hardly is a personal problem only, same goes for the unbalanced matchmaking.

As for Nintendo’s accomplishments in 2015 you’ve listed: There must be a reason why Code Name S.T.E.A.M. barely got any attention after release. Majora’s Mask is a great game, but you can’t really credit its success to Nintendo’s accomplishments in 2015, as it’s technically the brilliance achieved in the N64 era Nintendo benefited from. Same goes for Xenoblade 3D. Triforce Heroes just seems like a rehash of Four Swords, but I haven’t played it, so I can’t make a very meaningful statement about it. The only games that seem worth mentioning to me in that list are Super Mario Maker, Yoshi’s Woolly World and Xenoblade X, of which only the latter comes close to the quality of The Witcher 3. But Xenoblade X wasn’t included in the awards, as it wasn’t even nominated for best RPG or any other award, so there’s that. And again, Mario Tennis and amiibo Festival were not the only negative things done by Nintendo in 2015, as already mentioned and elaborated in earlier comments.
And to answer you why Nintendo isn’t developer-of-the-year to me, I’ll just redirect you to my previous comments once more, as that’s exactly what I’ve been trying to explain.

Anyway. I think we can both agree to disagree, as we both seem to have our set opinions – I can’t change yours, and you can’t change mine, which is absolutely alright. And even though I don’t agree with your view on the matter, I still respect it.

                      1. Jaded Ridley X3 {I'm not whining, you suckers... *cough* ..poor souls! I've just been driven insane by Nintendo failing me one too many times this gen!}

We can remove Yoshi’s Woolly World from that list since Nintendo didn’t develop it & merely published it. It was a 3rd party that developed that game. It’d be completely unfair to Good-Feel to give Developer of the Year award to Nintendo for a game they didn’t even develop.

              2. I don’t find it surprising that you would list the bad games that Nintendo put out and not the ones good ones like Splatoon, Super Mario Maker, Yoshi’s Wooly World and Xenoblade Chronicles X. Out of the developers that were nominated Nintendo put out the most quality content and regardless of how great The Witcher 3 is, Projekt CD Red only put out one goddamn game….that was also delayed at one point and they didn’t deserve that award regardless of what angle you’re looking at it from. Like I said Nintendo were the only developers that was deemed worthy of that award because of the amount of quality content they created this year

                1. Sadly only one game on that list is even remotely comparable to The Witcher 3, and that is Xenoblade Chronicles X. Just because you developed more games doesn’t mean you deserve the reward, sure many of them were quality in the sense you’re saying, but they sure as hell don’t meet the level of quality you see in Xenoblade Chronicles X or The Witcher 3.

And I love Xenoblade, but The Witcher 3 is just my thing. The lore, the setting, the gameplay, it all appeals to me more than Xenoblade does. They’re both great series though, but if I had to pick one or the other… You get the point.

                  All a matter of preference.

                  1. Just like you have your preference I also have mine and that’s without a shadow of a doubt Xenoblade Chronicles X. I love vastly open world games that allows you to do more things than you can handle and the fact that you can explore planet Mira without any loading times makes the experience all the more better plus the boss battles look very engaging. I will certainly have more fun playing Xenoblade Chronicles X over The Witcher 3, especially since XCX has online co-op multiplayer

                    1. I’ll be having the same amount of fun with both, I just said I prefer The Witcher 3 more for those specific reasons. It doesn’t mean I can’t enjoy both games equally in terms how much fun I’m having.

I enjoy co-op too, but I also enjoy a deep single player experience. If X didn’t have co-op, I’m sure I’d still enjoy it just as much as the previous installment, but online co-op is very welcome indeed.

                2. I don’t find it surprising you would just ignore all the bs Nintendo has pulled this year, glorifying them to the extent of calling them the developers of the year, despite all those things.

I’ll just redirect you to the last paragraph of my reply to Ray Lopez. The thing is about their entire performance as developers throughout the year, not only the positive things.

              3. how can cd project deserve developer of the year with a game that has so many bugs, graphical downgrade of what they promised to us, terrible framerate, etc??

i mean, dont you think xenoblade is running pretty well considering the low power of the wii u??
                doenst that require good optimizations??

            2. Shocked?

They totally deserved it. They struggled hard to make The Witcher a success, and they listen to fans and support their games better than most developers do, even Nintendo in most cases. They’ve supported The Witcher with way more content than Splatoon has, so if were going to go there, there’s that.

              1. No they didn’t deserve it for only making one game and even though that game was great and it was well supported with DLC still they only made ONE GAME while Nintendo has made at least 4 good games this year and The Witcher 3 is not better supported than Splatoon is especially when Splatoon gets updated with new content damn near every day. Nintendo was far more deserving of that award than any other developer that was nominated

                1. Again, Nintendo only had one game that can stack up to The Witcher 3 is what I was saying, with Xenoblade Chronicles X. Unfortunately they weren’t the sole developers of that game, they worked with Monolith Soft, so they couldn’t have won that award even if it was an option.

And Splatoon does not get new content almost every day. A bit of an exaggeration there, often yes, but they release it differently. Just because it releases faster doesn’t make it more substantial or of a higher quality than The Witcher 3’s DLC if were going to compare the DLC of the two. I’m basing things on quality, not quantity, but The Witcher 3 offered both.

The Witcher 3 and Splatoon released the same month. And as far as the quality of DLC goes, CD Projekt Red put more effort into theirs, not to say Splatoon’s is effortless, but comparing the two seems absurd to me when one is clearly of higher quality and offers more content.

Another thing is that Splatoon released very bare bones and a lot of its best content and features weren’t released until later on, and The Witcher 3 was a complete game when it came out. It didn’t need DLC to make it complete, like Splatoon did. So we could compare that as well and if I were to judge the two, that would definitely play a role in who is more deserving of an award.

Nintendo did make some good games, but the only one comparable in terms of quality was Xenoblade Chronicles X like I said, and that is very debatable which is better between the two and who is more deserving.

I’m just saying I don’t think Nintendo deserved it on the merits of those other games, sure they were good, but obviously not as great as Xenoblade Chronicles X or The Witcher 3. And like I pointed out, Nintendo still could not have won the developer award even if it was based on Xenoblade Chronicles X alone.

I also think we shouldn’t get too attached to who gets what award, the fact Nintendo is even nominated every year should be enough to mean something.

                  1. “The only thing that can stack up to Witcher 3 is Xenoblade.” I don’t think that’s a fair thing to say. SMM and Splatoon are completely different games than Witcher 3, so to say they don’t stack up… is a bit off putting. Those two games do vastly different things than that of Witcher 3 and vice versa. Plus you can not argue that those two aren’t high quality games (one of them won two awards and the other was a contender for GOTY).

Personally, I don’t think people give SMM enough credit. For what it is and what it does, it’s pretty high quality. It could be used as an industry leading Mario stage creator.

But ok. Fair enough. Lets say Xenoblade is the only game that stacks up to Witcher 3. Comparing CDPR vs Nintendo still shouldn’t be a toss up, because it would be Witcher alone against Xenoblade, Yoshi’s Wooly World, Super Mario Maker, Splatoon, Mario Tennis, Code Name Steam, Triforce Heroes, Majoras Mask 3d and more.

Also, Splatoon, as I’ve said, got 8’s and above out the door, so while it wasn’t as complete an experience as Witcher, it didn’t need DLC to be a complete game as it had everything already. You guys are also undermining the amount of free DLC provided for the game as it’s now packed with content. Mind you this is a brand new IP for Nintendo, a risk they didn’t even have to take.

And if Xenoblade matches Witcher in terms of quality, how dare I ask could they not win Dev of the year for that? You gotta hold Nintendo to the same standards you hold other companies to. It’s the only fair way.

                  2. witcher 3 is good game, but from programmer prespective is ass, bad framerate, graphics downgrade, bugs and bugs everywhere, etc,

and xenoblade is running pretty well in a big openworld despite the console it runs on is not that distant in power compared to ps3 and 360, i would estimate somthing like 2x at must and still very imrpessive if i compare it to the final fantasy games on the ps3

                    1. HollowGrapeJ (A.K.A. Shampoo- Destroyer Of Girl Type Ranma & Akane Tendo And Soon To Be Married Wife Of Boy Type Ranma Saotome Of The Anything Goes Martial Arts School)

I’ve played the game for probably 15 hours and I haven’t seen many bugs at all. There was this one where I stabbed a guy and he flew miles away but it was more hilarious than game breaking. And as for the graphical downgrade, that is true. But it looks like one of the best games ever made even with the downgrade. (On PC, but I bet it’s still pretty on console too)

                2. To be fair, if we were to play the vanilla versions of both games we would a huge and I mean HUGE RPG (the Witcher 3) and A Shooter with what, one or 2 modes? (Splatoon)

Nintendo HAS to keep pushing out content for that game because it was so barebonez and at $60 no less. CDPR on the hand also released 10 packs of DLC for free for the same price to an already massive game that didn’t need it.

                  1. I love how everyone is saying the same thing. “The game was bare bones!”

For a game to be fantastic at bare bones level? That’s great, because with the tons of free dlc it’s been given, the game is a classic now.

Witcher 3 BETTER be a huge RPG too. It took that studio 3 games to make it what it is now, compared to Splatoon, a brand new IP that just recently hit classic status. It’s sequels are only gonna be better.

You’re not being fair to Nintendo. Besides, Splatoon was only 1 AAA title of the year by Nintendo. If you want to talk about HUGE RPGs, why haven’t you mentioned Xenoblade X, which is by far a much larger game?

Also, “10 packs of DLC for fre for the same price?” I don’t understand what you’re saying.

                    1. Lol to you maybe, but the game didn’t have outstanding reviews, and well no shit the game is good, it was made by EAD 2. I’m sure you’re aware that EAD 2 has development talent from EAD, you know EAD right? The guys that made EVERYTHING at Nintendo.

It might took CDPR 3 games to make this Amazing game but if took EAD2 Decades of talented developers, MULTIPLE games, and the teaching of Miyamoto, to make a game with only 2-3 modes ay launch. Do you really want to compare CDPR’s 3 games to the asinine amount of golden gems that EAD has produced? Yes Splatoon might be a new IP but not all developers were new in that team and they all had Shigeru Miyamoto as a teacher. The game might be jam packed now, but it was bare bones when it launched.

Well I don’t think you’ve noticed but XCX wasn’t part of the VGA’s, which is why I don’t bring it up. I’m sure it’ll be an instant classic, but like I said, it wasn’t part of the VGA’s which is why it’ll be a little hard convincing people that it should’ve won game of the year.

Yes, The Witcher has 10 packs of DLC for the same price (as splatoon, $60) and it released complete.

                      1. To each their own, I guess. But here’s some facts.

                        Destructoid 8.5/10
                        Edge 9/10
                        Eurogamer 9/10
                        GameSpot 8/10

^ @ Splatoons release. These companies never went back to re-review them after the content, so… yeah. These aren’t outstanding reviews?

& I’m well aware of EAD. They’re a part of NINTENDO, so if the VGAs are gonna have NINTENDO as a whole as a DEVELOPER, clumping ALL dev teams active this year in one, then that should include EAD. Makes sense to me.

“Yes Splatoon might be a new IP but not all developers were new in that team and they all had Shigeru Miyamoto as a teacher. ” But that’s exactly my point; they’re a new team built with new and old Nintendo Devs alike. Splatoon wasn’t made by the entire EAD, it was a few people from multiple teams (namely some people who normally handle the Animal Crossing series and I believe a few people who spearheaded Starfox 64 3D). They’re a newer, younger team of Devs headed by Miyamoto.

And yeah, you’re right, XCX wasn’t a part of the VGAs. Not really sure how I feel about that; it’s a AAA title by Nintendo that could’ve gotten some credibility. I guess it wasn’t out soon enough?

& I misunderstood what you meant when you were talking about Witcher DLC. I get it now, thanks.

                        1. See I dont agree with that, yeah they are all under the Nintendo name, but then you have all the teams that dont do as well clumped up with better teams.I will agree that its dumb to have Nintendo as a whole company be a nominee by itself.

Well yes, they are a new team, but only by name. This team as a whole (with new and old developers) has been around since Animal Crossing on the GCN (which you just pointed out in you comment) but EAD2 alone has at the very least 10 games under there belt, CDPR has only 3.

Well from my understanding the games that would qualify for the gameawards would have to be released on or before November 24th (the last Tuesday of November 2014.) Which is why even Just Cause didnt qualify

fair point, I will admit I was wrong about the scores, I was just clouded by the actual average scores it got and all the bad press (even though it wasnt that much) it was much more louder than the positive press it got.

              2. Man we need more devs like Project Red. They actually care! They actually listen! And they actually have paid DLC that’s worth your money. You don’t see that anymore

                1. Well according to them, the DLC is free, what they are charging is for expansion Packs which give you 20+ hours of more gameplay, not a dinky weapon or map.

Which is how it really should be done.

                    1. No they aren’t, the DLC is free. I don’t know if you have the game but the DLC is…. Well, free.

What you are referring to is an expansion. A whole chunk of story added to what was already there.

                      1. Also, Splats dlc isn’t just “a dinky weapon or map.”

I don’t know if you’ve played or even have Splatoon, but it isn’t the kind of game that recieves “20 more hours or story content.” It’s not that kind of game, because the primary mode is the MULTIPLAYER, where the players use… guns, gear and maps. All of which come to Splatoon via free DLC in both small (a few weapons once or twice a week and new maps) and big (August update, most recent Nintendo Direct update that added loads of gear and new maps) quantities.

So yeah, Witcher can go ahead and add 20 more hours of gameplay. I’m sure I’ll still be playing Splatoon far longer than you’ll be playing Witcher 3.

No shade to Witcher 3 tho, it really is a fantastic game.

                        1. Well when I replied to the guy, when I said dinky weapons or maps I was referring more to what CoD does, which theyll sell DLC pieces and theyre just maps and weapons, or TLoU (which is an amazing game) aside from the Expansion, the DLC was very lackluster, and they charged for it. Yes I have played Splatoon but no, I dont own it, I will definitely buy it once the game releases in its entirety. As of now, I can only speak of it from what I played, and I just played the Vanilla version when it first released.

        5. Man, even Deadmau5 was off his game for this show. Not even a drop? Really? Should have gotten Daft Punk. :/

But yeah, I liked his references, the Iwata tribute, and Splatoon winning, but over all, this show was still a let down. And Undertale didn’t win?…..Really? ._.

2015 from this show, to E3, to most of the games (most) themselves were just not good this year. Here’s hoping for 2016. :/

          1. When was Deadmau5 ever on his game? Meh, just ignore me.

I’ll just never understand what people find so special about his music, and I think he comes off as very arrogant. Just look at his twitter and what he’s saying now, can’t just own up to a shitty show, has to act like it was all intentional.

              1. Like I said, just ignore me when it comes to music. I could go on for days about it, and all the things I hate and love about it.

I’ll just say I like Daft Punk as well, they’re incredible from a musical standpoint, although I can’t say I love their newer collaborations. But I do respect them deeply, as musicians and I love their older stuff.

            1. I love deadmau5 but He is an arrogant ass. Some of his songs are just out of this world though. Listen to strobe all the way through and tell me it’s not good.

              1. Lol, we can agree on that.

Not saying his music can’t be considered good by those who do enjoy it and I’m not saying it’s bad in that sense. I’m not saying strobe is a bad song, as it isn’t.

His music is just too familiar to me. All subjective of course, and I guess that depends on what you used to listen to a lot or what sounds new to you.

A good quote from Aphex Twin would describe how I feel about music perfectly.

“The holy grail for a music fan is to hear music from another planet, which has not been influenced by us whatsoever. Or, even better, from lots of different planets. The closest we got to that was before the Internet, when people didn’t know of each other’s existence. Now, that doesn’t really happen.”

                1. I can see what you are saying and that’s why some of his songs are like what you just quoted, well to me anyways like HR 8938. Idk what other kind of music you listen to but seven lions has some awesome otherworldly rage worthy music.

        7. Witcher 3 was a fantastic game, but best RPG? No way. Some would say it’s not even a true RPG in the first place. I mean, how can you role play with a set character? The very idea behind role playing is to create your OWN character.

Games like Pillars of Eternity, or Divinity Original Sin deserved best RPG. Because they were the two best RPG’s I have played in the last two years. Not to mention Xenoblade Chronicles.

Again, I really liked The Witcher 3, but not deserving of best RPG. It does a disservice to the genre.

          1. I don’t necessarily understand what you mean and I think you’re the only person saying this. How can you create your own definition of what an RPG means? When character creators have nothing to do with a game being an RPG. That is such small facet of a game, and character creators exist in every genre, not just RPG’s.

You are dismissing The Witcher 3 as an RPG because of that fact you play a set role? Why? When you say you like Xenoblade Chronicles, and the first game had you doing the same exact thing. Character creation is only in X, and I’m pretty certain it did not make the first one any less of an RPG because of that.

Many of the RPG’s considered to be the best of all time, usually all have you playing the role of a set character or characters. I typically define an RPG by character building, not what you make your character look like, what I mean is by leveling, building stats, choosing what skills you want to use and developing your own play style based on this, and in some cases how you build your character or what decisions you chose change the story around you. Every game considered to be an RPG has all of these components.

To say The Witcher 3 does a disservice to the genre is so uncalled for when it does everything an RPG should in spades, especially when you like a game more that did the same thing when it first came out.

By all means, like what you like. I’m not trying to force you to like The Witcher series more than Xenoblade’s. I just thought your comment made no sense by trying to demote The Witcher, by claiming it isn’t a true RPG just because it doesn’t have a character creator…

            1. First off, don’t put too much thought into Xenoblade in my last post. I threw that in there because it happens to be one my favorite games of all time. But is Xenoblade a true rpg? Not really. And neither is the Witcher series.

And why can’t I have my own opinion of what I think an rpg should be? I certainly think I can!

(Sorry I’m going to break this into several small posts because ipad is acting up)

              1. I think an rpg should be complete character control. Not just the way a character looks. In a true rpg you should be able to control and change your base stats, your class, your personality traits, as well as your looks. I may want to be a Mage…. but hmmm what kind of Mage do I want to be? a battle Mage maybe? Or what about a Mage that focuses on water based spells? or fire? maybe a mix of both!? Or scratch that, I want to be a rouge. yes, a rouge with a high strength so I can wield two handed weapons! yes!

            2. What about a warrior with healing spells? I essentially created a Paladin, even though the option to choose a Paladin didn’t exist. I believe an rpg should allow you to mold your characters personality. Divinty did this really well, where dialog choices would actually effect your base stats. You could choose to be good, and get perks to Strength and Constitution. Or evil and get perks to Dexterity, and Lock picking skills. Or maybe you are neither good nor evil, and get smaller perks to everything.

            3. Also, your dialog options will usually effect how your party members feel about you. Maybe you have a proud Knight in your party. If you choose to steal, sneak, and lie on a constant basis, the Knight will grow upset, and your relationship will take a hit. He will eventually leave the party. Controlling Personality traits is a huge deal to me in an rpg, and the Witcher does not have this at all.

            4. To be fair to the Witcher 3, I don’t think many “rpg’s” should be considered rpg’s. I’m a purist when it comes to this, and the whole point of rpg’s in the 90’s was to recreate the table top Dungeons and Dragons feel. Many games did this really well, and many did not. As time passed, you got games that ventured further and further from this core experience, but we’re still considered to be in the rpg category.

I’m not trying to knock the Witcher off it’s perch, I think it’s a fantastic game. In fact very deserving of GOTY. But Divinty was a way better rpg experience. Pillars of eternity was a better rpg experience. Divinty Two is on its way, and it looks to be really amazing. It’s on Kickstarter so maybe donate to help the old school rpg’s stay relevant, because honestly with the success of games like the Witcher 3 and Skyrim, true rpg’s may become a thing of the past.

            5. But I should say this, one thing the Witcher 3 did better than most rpg’s is story telling. The story with the Baron was IMO one of the very best stories in a video game….. ever.. I was so emotionally involved in his story. His Wife, his daughter, and the way they developed as characters was truly a joy to watch. I completely understand why it won GOTY.

        8. Happy The Witcher 3 won game of the year it deserved it! And Splatoon winning mulitplayer of the year? Eh i could care less about that game.

            1. LOL! Was this comment for you? Was it family man who supports blacky lewbosky racist comments? Word of advice don’t have the same stupid avatar and name everywhere you go.

        9. Splatoon also won Best Shooter, but they said it quietly and quickly after it won Multiplayer, maybe because it was like the same nominees, but still, it was stupid to not show it more…

And to those complaining Nintendo didn’t announce anything new, well, you have a Smash Direct coming in like one or 2 weeks, and 2 weeks ago was the Nintendo Direct, what else do you want?

The only missed opportunity here was release a new Xenoblade Chronicles X new trailer since it comes out today so people would be remembered, I think that’s what I would’ve done!

The monsters that you have to defeat are the ones with an S icon above them. AFTER that is complete you have head the fucking way to the blade barracks to set up an side side quest that you can play with actual players. I’ve been invited 2 player side quest but the shit said I needed something called blade me da

Just looking at this list of winners makes me realize why these Video Game Awards bored me SO bad in just the first 30-minutes. Almost nothing but games and companies I know nothing about, and care nothing about. A total snooze-fest. I swear, this is the last time I pay any attention to the Video Game Awards. It still sucks just as bad as it did years ago when I watched it on Spike TV.

                                                                            2. HollowGrapeJ (A.K.A. Shampoo- Destroyer Of Girl Type Ranma & Akane Tendo And Soon To Be Married Wife Of Boy Type Ranma Saotome Of The Anything Goes Martial Arts School)

                                                                            3. I’m happy Bethesda didn’t win anything. I’m happy The Witcher 3 won GOTY. I’m confused and salty about Her Story. I’m glad Splatoon triumphed over BLOPS3 and Halo.

                                                                            4. Jaded Ridley X3 {I'm not whining, you suckers... *cough* ..poor souls! I've just been driven insane by Nintendo failing me one too many times this gen!}

I knew there would be people pissed NintenD’OH! *facepalm* didn’t win developer of the year when I heard them announced CD Projekt Red won the award instead. “But Nintendo released more games than they did!” So? Splatoon was released bare boned while The Witcher 3 was released COMPLETE but let’s ignore that because they released more content over the next few months. But that’s not the worst about Splatoon as being forced to play the game how the online wanted you to play it was bullshit as you couldn’t pick the stages or modes. Seriously? I guess some people like being sheep & liked getting bossed around like a little bitch. Tell me. When did Nintendo take some of your balls & put them in their purse, hm? Code Name STEAM, hah! That game was a massive failure. Animal Crossing: amiibo Festival? Pfft. What a pathetic, sad attempt at trying to copy Activision’s Skylanders & Disney’s Disney Infinity. It would have been better off as a nice little board game where you have to buy amiibo cards to even play it since that’s ALL the game really is: a board game. Triforce Heroes. Please. Probably the worst plot in a Zelda game ever, not counting the CDi shit: save a princess’s WARDDROBE. No wonder Ganon took over Hyrule before the events of Legend of Zelda in that timeline because Link at the time was wasting his time saving a spoiled brat’s clothes instead of saving a kingdom from enslavement & destruction. lol Super Mario Maker? As great as it is, it’s missing a couple of shit that should have been in the game on day 1 like slopes, a desert background, the Chasing Sun from SMB3, Birdo, and I’m sure it’s still missing a plethora of other shit. Majoras Mask 3D? It’s just a 3D remaster of an old N64 game that Nintendo did not even develop on their own as Grezzo helped. A Smash update? Really trying to use that?! Nice try trying to stack the deck in Nintendo’s favor using DLC from a game that came out LAST YEAR. Tsk tsk. The shame! Xenoblade Chronicles 3D? As awesome as the game was on the Wii, the 3DS version did absolutely NOTHING to fix the issues with the original game. Trying to use a simple port to stack the deck in Nintendo’s favor more, eh? Oh don’t even get me started on Xenoblade Chronicles X! You really don’t want that as others will testify to that. Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash!? More like Mario Tennis: Ultra Barebone Trash that can’t even touch the prestige of the original Mario Tennis on N64 because it’s so lacking in content. Yoshi’s Woolly World? Okay. I’ll give Nintendo that one. Oh wait! It wasn’t even developed by Nintendo & was simply published by them as the developer was Good-Feel! Nice try, though! Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon? Pfft! Same with Yoshi’s Woolly World: merely published by Nintendo where as the developer was Spike Chunsoft. Again, nice try. Star Fox Zero? Delayed to 2016. Zelda U? Delayed to 2016. Pokken Tournament? Developed by Bandai Namco with the publisher not even being Nintendo. But hey! Like the Developer of the Year Award, it’s all just one big fat opinion so you are welcome to it. If you don’t like the fact others will have a different opinion, tough shit. Such is life. Grow up & get over it. You’ll be much happier with your own opinion that way. Just like how I’m perfectly happy with my own. Have a nice fucking day!

I guess I posted this too late. Oh well. Or maybe my new name is actually working in scaring off Nintendo fanboys! :D

                                                                                  1. Nintendo is the subject of their daily worship. So tired of calling their attention and being accused of trolling or hating.
