Azure Striker Gunvolt Has Been Downloaded More Than 140,000 Times

Inti Creates has today announced via its official Twitter account that the action-packed Azure Striker Gunvolt has surpassed 140,000 downloads on the Nintendo 3DS worldwide. That’s not a bad figure at all and the company celebrated by providing the image which you can view, below.

  1. I absolutely love this game…

But, 140,000 downloads doesn’t seem like a good number to me. Nintendo has sold over 54 million 3DS’s worldwide. 140,000 is only .2% of the 3DS market. Selling this game for $15 nets Into Creates an estimated $2.1 million. (Probably less because they discounted it a few times.) This game is also available on steam for the same price so I would assume they made more than this game cost to develop.

I don’t know much about the business side of video game development but I can’t see how .2% is going to encourage a sequel.

      1. “Confirmed”… okay so it must be happening for sure. There is absolutely nothing to worry about peeps, Azure Striker Gunvolt 2 had been “confirmed”.

*Yes, I already knew that back in February Inti Creates said they wanted to do a sequel. I never said they weren’t going to make one. I said “I can’t see how .2% (of the 3DS market) is going to ENCOURAGE a sequel.”

With the rumored “NX” handheld said to be released this year, I wouldn’t hold your breath on that confirmation.
