Fan response is crucial to The Legend of Zelda. According to series producer Eiji Aonuma, feedback from those who play Zelda games helps shape future entries. This is one of the reasons why Nintendo showcases Zelda titles at events such as E3, where fans can try out early versions for themselves and voice their opinions in regards to their first-hand experience. You can read what Aonuma had to say on the matter below:
“We’re constantly thinking about how to make it unique compared to other games, both in general as well as to others in the Zelda series. Of course, the response of fans is most important and something we care very much about, which is why recently we have been showing early previews at events like E3. We’re looking to see that there are no problems with the directions we’re taking, and are reflecting the reactions we do get into subsequent development.”

Good good. Now Lend me your fucking ear so I can complain how good zelda is without voice acting. Make a option the enables voice acting and a option that turns it off. Stupid bitches act like the whole series will be ruined if voice acting is included. So I say no. Don’t listen to us dumbass fans. Continue to do you
People can tell just from your username that nobody should EVER take you seriously.
But it would be. It just doesn’t suit the series. People seem to think that just because Zelda is a narrative series, the next logical step for it is to adopt voice acting, but they aren’t thinking if it would add anything positive to the game. The thing is, Zelda games follow an event-driven narrative. Most of the characters in the games don’t advance the plot at all, they act as accessories to the world. By making them speak, you’re giving them the focus as characters and not as part of the setting, which is what these games are about. The characters speaking in Hylian has become a staple of the series at this point, Zelda needs voice acting as much as Pikmin or Animal Crossing.
I wonder if we’d really be having the “voice acting would ruin Zelda” mentality if the Zelda cartoon & CD-i Zelda games were never created. I honestly don’t think we would. Let’s look at how well Nintendo has handled voice acting, though. Aside from Other M, every other foray into using voice acting has been mostly positive. Besides Other M, every thing that has had bad voice acting for a Nintendo franchise weren’t even developed or highly watched over by Nintendo. So I agree with Boss Ass Bitch. Just make one game with voice acting & have the option to turn it off. If a majority hate it, they can turn the voice acting off & future Zelda titles will ignore voice acting from that point on. Hyrule Warriors would have been the perfect chance to try out voice acting in the Zelda universe since it was a spin off game. Missed opportunity there.
I can’t think of any Nintendo series with voice acting that didn’t have it since the first entry other than F-Zero and Metroid. I agree with Hyrule Warriors being a missed opportunity in that regard, but the fact that they decided not to try it shows how much they think Hylian is a staple of the series by now.
My only complaint about Zelda U is lack of information. GIVE ME A DANG TRAILER AND A FREAKING NAME NOW!!! Sorry…
A small clip or some art would give us some hope. I feel like this Zelda has been kept in the dark far more than other games, maybe I’m over thinking it.
Idk, this is the first Zelda I’m actually actively following development on. Only because back when they were making skyward sword I wasn’t really following game news in general, I just saw commercials and listened to what my school friends were telling me. My parents just got me the new game whenever it came out, and it was kinda good that way because I went into every single one completely fresh not even seeing artwork for many of the games I used to play. Nowadays though I crave any and all Nintendo news, especially Zelda news because it’s my favorite video game series. (Wow that got kinda rantish.)
Nah, that was fine. I feel the same way, what was your first home console?
N64. I loved that thing.
OK, I see. Yes you joined during a great time in video gaming. I still have my clear green N64 and plug it in now and then.
This is nothing new, they’re always tight-lipped about Zelda games. We need a new trailer soon, though.
I don’t feel like this is the case here, if anything this Zelda game has been more hush hush than past ones. I agree that its something Nintendo has done with past Zelda games. But one main game trailer? Tiny bits of hardly revealing information? This better be a Mac Daddy of Zelda games, and I think it will be.
Last time they revealed Skyward Sword with a artwork piece, then nothing for a good while. Not like there’s a pattern or anything like that, but I just don’t see how this is out of the norm.
Ride on, there’s no lie in saying I’m really anxious to play the new game. I wouldn’t want to rush it now would I. : ]
I didn’t play skyward sword due to not getting a Wii till quite sometime after it’s release. This was due to a major addition to PvP action in W.O.W. and raiding like crazy. Which I miss very much…
Ah PC MMOs. The reason I had a console gaming gap from PS2 to late Wii. Never again.
Haha, yah same kind of story here. Although I’ve never owned a Sony console. I do however, love MMO’s. Mainly WoW and Continuum.
Yeah, the hype is dying, they need to speak up already.
E3 in 5 months.
Make that 4 months.
Fan responses are great and all, but seems like video game developers are reading these with fogged up glasses. Most of the time, we end up getting useless features that no one uses. A couple examples, COD has the replay feature, which is now outdated, useless. Batman Arkham Knight got the batmobile, but it was too much!! Sometimes it works out, as Smash Bros is an AMAZING response to fans!
I still think that Zelda U looks too much like Skyward Sword. I guess the tech demo from a few years ago got my hopes too high.
The last few times a Zelda game had artwork similar to a previous entry, that game turned out to be a sequel or direct sequel to that previous entry. Phantom Hourglass & Spirit Tracks being sequels to Wind Waker, Oracle games & Link’s Awakening being sequels to Link to the Past, & Majora’s Mask being a sequel to Ocarina of Time being the biggest examples.
How about Nintendo scraps whatever work they’ve done, or lack there of, on the Twilight Princess port and go for a complete remake with the visuals of that tech demo they showed off before the Wii U’s release. Seriously, I cannot tell the difference between the Wii and Wii U version of the game. And then use that engine for the new Zelda because the tech demo graphics look vastly superior to Zelda Wii U’s graphics.
My god you idiots never stop, NINTENDO IS NOT MAKING TWILIGHT PRINCESS HD, TANTALUS IS. That’s why it doesn’t look as good as Windwaker HD.
That and WWHD was mostly just a color pallete, and lighting change with a few texture redos here and there. With TPHD there’s textures they just completely overhauled or changed entirely. Especially the ground textures, people forget just how bad those ground textures were. People need to go watch some comparison vids and stop being ignorant.
Honestly Twilight Princess (Wii Version) looks infinitley better. It’s style just looks right. It looks awful without the blur effect and having the characters have sharper images is just weird. If anything Twilight Princess HD is nothing but a downgrade. Doesn’t even have motion controls. So that’s like 5 steps back. Not an improvement at all.
Okay, well I’m sure Nintendo has the authority to have it scrapped and work on it themselves.
~*That’s no excuse. This is freaking Legend of Zelda here: Nintendo’s most prized child who is arguably more cherished than Super Mario. No way in Hell is Tantalus doing this port/remake/whatever people want to call it without Nintendo looking right over their shoulder like a freaking hawk.*~
That’s a great idea, perhaps other game developers can follow the same process so we get better quality games *cough* *cough* Sticker Star
Well there you go, the game hasn’t been shown at all except for things like E3 NOT CAUSE IT’S COMING TO NX, but cause they want to make sure it’s at the point where they want to show it off. (LIKE ALWAYS lol)
Also 30 anniversary… I’m on edge of believing it will go to nx … Wiiu had way too many droubts, losing games to its spoiled and overated little brother, and constantly getting picked on by everyone so Zelda would be a nice reward to those who stayed loyal or are supporting the system.
It can get ported midway through the nx time frame
Overrated? 3DS is IMO, and I’m sure a large number of people due to sales, the best mobile console in history.
-||And then you make Triforce Heroes||-
Total fan service right there eh? Haha
-||I can’t wait to see the epic failure of Federation Force, I want that glitch away from my core||-
Just like Animal Crossing Amiibo Festival. Flop!
-||That “weapon” is as bad as an Xbot||-
~*I’m actually okay with Triforce Heroes now that I know where in the timeline it takes place. It finally explains where the hell Link was when Hyrule was losing it’s Princess Zelda to a Sleeping Beauty spell & why Hyrule went to hell in a hand basket immediately following after. In fact, it gives me a reason to hate the game even more. Stupid Hytopia & it’s spoiled princess.*~
Fans: WindWaker graphics suck, give us something more realistic
Nintendo: OK, fine, here’s twilight princess
Fans: Twilight Princess is too realistic looking, WindWaker graphics was awesome!
Nintendo: Make up your mind!!!!
-||Who ever said the second one?||-
Not I.
WW does look amazing.
I don’t deny that. I just never liked the style for a Zelda game personally. If they came out with a new IP with that style instead of WW, I would have loved it. Not saying I hate WW, as it is still a great game, but it is my least favorite Zelda game thus far. And it’s not just because of the style, but that is definitely part of it.
“which is why recently we have been showing early previews at events like E3”
Ehm… no?
Just kidding though, I’ve always loved all the effort that Aonuma and his team put into every Zelda game
So did they take all the ‘ZOMG Graphics eww’ comments into consideration and go back to the drawing board? Doubtful.
~*Just ignore the people whining about the artstyle for Wind Waker, Skyward Sword, & Zelda U, Aonuma. Aside from Skyward Sword being the most linear game in the franchise, it along with Wind Waker were fantastic games with a great story. And the gameplay was great in Wind Waker whereas Wind Waker HD made it even better while Skyward Sword’s gameplay was just as good when you didn’t have an issue with the motion controls which can also get fixed with a later release when motion controls have evolved to be less problematic.*~
~*Oh & if Skyward Sword does get a remake, please fill up the sky with more enemies that we can actually fight! Like Twilight Princess with barren fields, that was my biggest issue with Skyward Sword.*~
