Check Out These Fake Pokemon Sun And Moon Magazine Scans

When there’s a new generation of Pokemon on the horizon, you can always count on sifting through a generation’s worth of fan-made fakes. Pokemon Sun and Moon are no different, and these latest “scans” from an unnamed Japanese magazine mark the opening of the floodgates.

The faulty images surfaced on a Korean Twitter account this weekend, and have since accumulated over 3,000 re-tweets. With that many eyes on it, speculation began building, with some pointing out the lack of furigana accompanied Kanji as a complete telltale.1  I for one think the comparative blandness of the Pokemon and trainers is a dead giveaway. But you can judge the faux Pokemon for yourself by viewing the alleged scans, below.

1Furigana is hirigana (Japanese syllabary) placed over complex Kanji characters, often for the benefit of younger readers, as commonly seen in children’s media such as CoroCoro magazine.

    1. The Pokemon are terrible. They’re literally a combination of Krokorok and Totodile, a combination of Pancham, Teddiursa, and Hawlucha, and a combination of Skiddo and Chespin. The trainers are okay.

  1. 🎭Mr. Boss Ass Bitch💊

The dude Pokémon trainer looks chill as fuck. These games are based in Hawaii. Calling it fucking now!

    1. You like a combination of Krokorok and Totodile, a combination of Pancham, Teddiursa, and Hawlucha, and a combination of Skiddo and Chespin? Really? That’s not a good fake. The angles on the official art are really messed up.

  2. grass starter looks like a fusion between skiddo and deerling, the water starter looks like fusion between froakie and sandile and the fire starter looks like a fusion between pancham and aipom(?)

  3. The Pokemon aren’t creative at all. Pokemon Company tends to put a LITTLE more thought than that into their designs. The trainer designs aren’t terrible though. I’m hoping for customization of our trainer again.

      1. Like having the first Pokemon in our team following right behind us in the overworld, we probably won’t get customization back til they remake a past gen. :/ Fucking GameFreak needs to quit adding cool features in a game if they aren’t going to fucking keep them as permanent fixtures. That would have been like Nintendo not adding a future iteration of the Hookshot from Ocarina of Time into 3D Zelda games that came after it!

  4. Introducing…
    The Grass Goat… Groass!
    The Fire Panda… Pyrda!
    The Water Crocodile… WaToFile!

Not gonna lie though, they’re extremely well done. Very few could make something that would look this legit (it looks a bit fake, but it is done in a believable style)

  5. I guess some people hate the idea of awesome fusions of past Pokemon being added into a future gen as a new Pokemon. I mean, who wouldn’t want a Pokemon that’s an awesome looking fusion of say Mewtwo & Yveltal.

Anyway, I like the box art. The Legendary Pokemon’s silhouettes look fucking awesome! And the avatars don’t look that bad, either. I mean, they aren’t exactly bland & do kind of look like something Pokemon’s art director would want the trainers to look like. They look no different from past designs, to be honest. Just look at Red’s design from the original gen of Pokemon, for crying out loud! It’s not exactly bland but it’s not exactly unique, either! And those starters, though they are mixtures of past Pokemon, so what? They don’t look that bad, either. In fact, I’d say they look better than the Pokemon they are based on! Anyway, who ever did the art for this fake should be given a job at GameFreak or Nintendo!
