Rumour: Nintendo NX Has 12GB RAM?

UpdateFake. Shame Segment Next didn’t update their post to clarify this.

Another day and another Nintendo NX rumour surfaces! This latest one comes from a deleted Reddit post that claims that Nintendo’s forthcoming system will include 12GB of RAM. For comparisons sake the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One both have 8GB of RAM. If that’s not enough to whet your appetite then the following games are supposed to launch alongside the system; Battlefield 5, FIFA 17, Deus Ex Mankind Divided, Mass Effect Trilogy, Dragon Quest, Super Mario NX, Luigi’s Mansion, and Zelda Wii U port.

The leaker also claims that instead of the previously known 8GB RAM of Nintendo NX, the console has 12GB out of which 3GB will be reserved for the OS and the remaining 9GB will be open. This compared with the 6GB out of 8GB of Xbox One and PS4.

      1. Facepalm ok so 124GB of ram would cost about ~500$ this is RAM not a 13GB hard drive.
Now Consoles do not use ram more efficiently than pcs. Nor do they use their disk space more efficiently.

    1. Yea, all i can think of is staying competitive with price. I mean xbox one is 300$ and already has a huge library, and with Windows 10 that number well take off. Also almost all those NX games well be on Xbox one. So if the price is not good then NX wont sell well. But 16 dues seem to make sense. I mean its still a lot more ram. But 12 is just a weirs number to pic. My other guess is that Nintendo was budgeting for game that would only need 12GB of ram. Also their was big talk on the New Nintendo OS that well compete with IOS and in some cases windows 10, so maybe that extra 4GB of ram is for the OS and for things like running apps, or multitasking.

      1. well its not good enough that nintendo is really adjusting the way of the NX hardware. they always being honest about there businesses and there local services in there company. sometimes they struggling with the Wii U games and hardware and the merchandises that many people have own. besides, i know how you feel about this, but nintendo is starting a new plan to do something diffrent for the comapany, and they are gonna do some massive changes for the NX of the next generation. nintendo have to find away to push that feeling back to the next generation hardware. :/

              1. Sad thing is, all of these are possible choices. I can see EA supporting the system in the beginning (Mass Effect Trilogy, if reasonably priced, would be welcome), and Square’s games make sense. I have no doubt they’ll bring DQXI one way or another, but Deus Ex is a little more surprising (and personally, very welcome). Still, the similarities with the Wii U’s launch catalog are uncanny.

-||Deus Ex is the only one I want besides Nintendo games of course, even if it takes longer to port it for some reason||-

                  1. Yeah, I’ll probably hold my horses with Mankind Divided until an NX release is confirmed or denied. Human Revolution didn’t exactly do great on Wii U, I’ll be pretty surprised if they are interested in a port. Then again, This will arrive only months after the original release, and not two years later.

-||They canceled BF4 though so if BF5 would be on the NX for sure then I guess together with CoD the NX will already surpass the Wii U at launch||-

-||If I was forced to choose, I’d go for Mass Effect||-

                              1. Then a few months later, they’ll release Mass Effect Trilogy with Mass Effect 4 bundled with it for the same price on other consoles, repeating the Wii U debacle when they released Mass Effect 3 on Wii U but released the trilogy on other consoles for the same price, screwing Nintendo only gamers over… again!

                                  1. Yeah. I don’t trust EA at all. A shame Need for Speed might soon become an online only franchise since it would have been the only franchise I’d buy from EA. Hopefully they got a shitstorm for that bullshit with the recent Need for Speed game so they won’t do it again with the next game. If not, Need for Speed is dead to me.

                                      1. Wait. You didn’t know? Yeah. Need for Speed 2016 is an online only/always online game. If your internet goes out or something, you can’t play it: single player or online multiplayer. :/

                        2. Although I don’t beleive this rumour (Nintendo would not put Mario next to Luigi-they’d save one for spring) all those games seem highly likely if Nintendo is releasing a console on par with PS4.

Wii U had COD, Mass Effect 3, DQX and Duex-Ex all ported to it (not necessarily in a timely manner). The real test is whether it recieves 2017 titles and whether they’re on time.

                      1. Ok, seriously now.
That line-up sounds just like Wii U 2.0, I can’t see it taking off. It’s a start, though.
12GB sounds like a blessing, though. If the devs actually make an effort with the ports (and if the architecture makes porting the games easy), Nintendo could have the definitive editions of those games.

                        1. How do you know it is a blessing? Are you playing the PS4 and complaining about the ram limits? If Xenoblade Chronicles X could do what it did on the Wii U, Imagine the sequel having access to twice the ram?

                          1. The 32GB was never really a problem that I personally faced, but I can understand why many would complain about it being too little. My comment was for those people, more than myself.

                        1. It’s being rumored that the NX may have 1TB of memory and that would seem to be more believable since it’s been reported that Nintendo may be very dependent on the cloud in regards with the NX

                          1. This is about its ram, the NX well probably only come with 54GB and some of that well probably for OS and such. It well probably support Usb 3.0 and 3.1 (C) for hard drives. I would be surprised if they still went with proprietary ports or micro USB. I really hope they just go all in with USB-C

                          2. well its not good enough that nintendo is really adjusting the way of the NX hardware. they always being honest about there businesses and there local services in there company. sometimes they struggling with the Wii U games and hardware and the merchandises that many people have own. besides, i know how you feel about this, but nintendo is starting a new plan to do something diffrent for the comapany, and they are gonna do some massive changes for the NX of the next generation. nintendo have to find away to push that feeling back to the next generation hardware. :/

                      2. As good as this rumor sounds, I’m gonna have to call BS. Sounds a little… too good.

The NX hype is killing me. Only 2 months until we FOR SURE get REAL information (E3, hint hint).

                      3. Envision what you think Nintendo should do i.e. 12-16 GB RAM, normal controller, 4K blu ray drive, etc…than think about what would piss you off. It’s always the latter, is what you’ll get from Nintendo. Anything that makes sense hardware wise won’t happen. We have a full decade of proof of this. Expect a slightly more powerful Wii U with some gimmick to make it “unique”. Do NOT expect it to be more powerful than a PS4K. Nintendo is way too cheap for that.

                        1. Remember, Nintendo has a new president with a different view of the industry and new goals for the company to match. His NX could be very different than what Iwata would have made it. Although, I do agree that there will be a “unique” feature.

                          1. By the time Kimishima got the job, the NX must had been almost completed (it is a project they had been doing since WiiU got released, Nintendo has always worked in that way), and just adjusting the hardware and debugging the OS so, no time for him to make fixes he would like to do anyway. What we will get (in case it is a console) is the final work of Iwata, with minor changes on it.

                            1. well its not good enough that nintendo is really adjusting the way of the NX hardware. they always being honest about there businesses and there local services in there company. sometimes they struggling with the Wii U games and hardware and the merchandises that many people have own. besides, i know how you feel about this, but nintendo is starting a new plan to do something diffrent for the comapany, and they are gonna do come massive changes for the NX of the next generation. nintendo have to find away to push that feeling back to the next generation hardware. :/

                        2. In the next gen, the “PS4” and the “Xone” will be obsolete again, so I can not understand this “NX won’t be more powerful than the PS4”, it is not hard to build a piece of technology powerful than a hardware that is not that expensive anymore.

                      4. Seriously, why is everyone saying the PS4K is going to be this great new machine.
Its going to be exactly the same as the current machine, just with a 4K Blu-ray drive to play the new 4K Blu-ray discs. every new game for PS4 will need to be compatible with ALL the old PS4’s. Essentially, games will be the same as what you have now. Maybe there will be some up scaling on it but that’s very doubtful. Oh and the HDD will be larger.
If the NX has 4K drive that will be sweet. and even if it doesn’t, its still going to sell amazingly well.
                        Why???
Because if no one has noticed, the current library on both xbox and PS4 is utterly stupid. Since their release I think I’ve played maybe 3 games I would class as very good. Bloodborne, GTA5 which hardly counts because its a remake, MGS5 and BF4. majority of the other games are just remasterd or definitive editions.
I know there are a lot of other people thinking the same way and fed up with the bad quality of new games and then made to pay for the rest of the game through DLC. EG: Destiny, COD. its as though developers are just making half a game these days, then finishing it off with DLC. (nx will likely be similar, but atleast the NX exclusives are a decent full on game before any DLC is tacked on)
So regardless of how much ram there is, if theres a good game library release when this thing comes out, its won any battle infront of it. hands down.
