Star Fox fans in North America and Europe can finally get their hands on the latest game in the series. Star Fox Zero has officially been released via the Nintendo eShop on Wii U. If you purchase the digital version, you’ll receive an automatic discount on Star Fox Guard and vice versa. Or you can wait until stores open in the morning to buy a physical copy, which comes packaged with both titles.
Star Fox Zero Is Now Available On The Nintendo eShop For Wii U

Gah, I’m getting a physical copy and the store doesn’t open til 10 tomorrow. I only buy digitally if it’s either download-only or if I’m not sure it’s something I’ll like and would get rid of it (like Mario Kart 8, I downloaded that because I knew that was gonna be a keeper).
just did a one hour live stream
Gonna have to play this after I beat dark souls 3.
I pity those who buy games digitally. I always have, and always will. I’ll be the proud owner of a physical copy tomorrow. Star Fox Zero AND Star Fox Guard. I just hope it’s easy to find, since I didn’t preorder.
Why? I always buy my games digitally and my ONLY regret is having New Super Mario Bros. U as my only copy. I’ll gladly take on that over having physical copies and therefore less space for my house (I buy A LOT of games and don’t have a super large house; also, many games are digital-only, like indie games (something I also buy a lot), so I don’t have much of a choice anyway)).
If it’s because you think that Star Fox Zero and Star Fox Guard is only available at full price, I’ll just let you know that (at least in Canada and the US), you can get both combined at around the same price as the physical copy.
I just feel like having digital versions of games is like not even owning the games. It’s more like just paying for permission to play. You should see my bedroom. It looks more like a storage. Boxes stacked EVERYWHERE. I have nearly all of my 2,642 games stored in my bedroom. It’s like a power trip for me. The more games I collect, the more powerful I feel. LOL! It’s hard to explain. But digital games doesn’t do any of that for me.
See, the fact that you said that your bedroom is like a storage bothers me a bit. I like my place clean (especially since, like I said, I can’t put so many things in my place) and the more games I have in physical form, the less space I have (and if you saw my game collection in my Wii U, 3DS, etc., as well as the size of my place, you’ll see what I mean). Plus, like I said, you’ll never be able to get indie games in physical form and since I buy a lot of those things,…
… well, anyway.)
I don’t get what you mean by “you need to have permission to play”. While yeah, you have a licence to play the game, you also have a licence to play the physical game, too. Really, you just own the disc and not the game content itself. So essentially they’re the same thing.
Personally don’t feel any different if I have a physical copy (with the exception of annoyance of figuring out where the heck I’m supposed to put it); if my game disc breaks, then I have to buy another one (and if no more copies are available, then I’m out of luck). At least with digital, I can download it as much as I want if it’s deleted. And even if it’s not available in the online store anymore, then at least I can backup all my games into several hard drives (one is good enough, but I like to do it multiple times).
With that said,… I DO like buying collector’s editions of games. (I just don’t open them and buy the digital version on top of that. Yes I do it, and I do it because I can, so sue me.) So in that respect, I understand your position. Other then that, it just feels weird to me. Also, I don’t necessarily know how you’ll be able to deal with the future where they would probably all but cut out physical discs. Not saying you won’t survive, but I’m just curious.
Anyway, to each their own I guess…
Well, as much as games has always been my whole life, I’ve pretty much made up my mind to stop playing modern games altogether if games ever goes 100% digital. I may or may not change my mind about that. Only time will tell. But that will be a very sad day for me. I have no idea what I’d find for a new hobby if I didn’t have video games. Though I’ll always have my physical collection to replay again and again.
I understand about downloading indie games, because digital is all there is (though I never download those either, with only a few rare exceptions).
I guess I’m one of the lucky ones who got my First Print Edition early yesterday morning! 😂
I won’t get mine until later today. Anyone here play it yet? How is it?
It’s tricky, for sure. I hoped that I would be that rare player who instantly got the controls, but, NOT!
The game looks great, and for awhile I was lementing the fact that I couldn’t play it the old fashioned way. But hearing all of the flack it has gotten, I went into this with a ton of patience. I played the pregame training portion about 5 or 6 times, that way I had about an 80 percent handle on the controls before going into Coneria. All that and I’m only at the stage where I get it, but it’s not intuitive in the least bit. I find my self either looking at the small screen only- hitting targets while crashing into walls, or I’m playing on the TV and missing all the targets. Yet I get it, and I can tell that when I master the controls it will be awesome!
Wow. Sounds like the reviews I read were pretty spot on then. Still looking forward to it though.
So I just finally started playing, and I picked up the controls immediately lol. I can see why people are having problems with them, but so far it’s shaping up quite nicely.

i’ll wait for a price cut. i’m not paying a 3 hours game.
This again?
By that logic, Bayonetta is a 10 hour game, if that.
Excellent game. the controls are not that crappy.
30 minutes was all i needed to get used to the controls.
in fact, after playing Star Fox Zero the first thing that came to my mind was: “kid icarus: up… what???”
Is this game worth buying or what?
No.
Its the same story as Star Fox 64, unresponsive gyro controls, an easy mode, amiibo-locked content, no online play really just makes this game the garbage that it is.
Waste your money on a Portstation 4, or an XBone, or just buy games that are better than this on Steam.
Did you play it?
Fuck no. Why would I waste money on a rehash with no originality made by a man who is now a hack.
So can anyone comment on multiplayer? Does this game have it or not!? *eye twitch*
Co-op only.
So that’s what they are calling the multiplayer in the game? Pfft. Just like how Nintendo Land has online capabilities when, in reality, they are just talking about Miiverse. It’s sad when Nintendo is using false advertising like Sega (Aliens: Colonial Marines, anyone?) and Activision & EA (CGI or live action trailers that show no gameplay or actual in-game cutscenes.) Yeah. I’ll wait for Star Fox Zero to hit the bargain bin.
To be fair, they never even hinted at multiplayer. They explicitely referred to that mode as co-op.
But hey, if it’s not your cup of tea, fair enough. I think you’ll be waiting a long time, though.
I don’t mind waiting. I’m honestly tired of Nintendo’s bullshit this gen. If NX doesn’t fix everything wrong with the Wii U, I’m afraid I’m done getting anything from Nintendo day 1 or for full price.
I don’t see Nintendo starting too many more major online communities (ie Smash, Kart, and Maker) for the WiiU, not with NX around the corner
