NIS America Won’t Publish Atlus Games In Europe

Prominent publisher NIS America has announced that they won’t be publishing Atlus Games in Europe going forward. NIS America MD Takuro Yamashita says that since Atlus was purchased by SEGA they have become very difficult to work with. This will come as a blow to many of you who enjoy your Japanese RPGs.

Around ten days ago, we terminated our alliance with Atlus in Europe and the US,” Yamashita told MCV. Atlus became very picky about selecting the European publishing partner after it was bought by Sega. It always cherry picked its EU publishing partner based on who offered the highest minimum guarantee on a title by title basis. I noticed that it was very difficult for NIS America to establish an equal-partnership with Atlus.
Atlus and its European games have contributed a lot to the expansion of NIS America in Europe. I would like to express my greatest appreciation to them for that.”

      1. NISA is still a cunt, they were already screwing us over with prices, I wonder if they were with Atlus, well regardless to get any sort of value we had to import anyway so its little loss.

        1. I really don’t see how you can pin blame on NISA for this. The prices may have been Atlus forcing it (the infamous “Atlus tax”) not NISA. As seen by the fact none of their games go above normal retail price in America, yet Atlus ones do. I don’t think NISA were trying to be “cunts” as you so nicely put it, but doing what they had to to bring over Atlus games to Europe in a relatively reasonable amount of time.

          1. Nope even their own games they over charge, games from other companies that aren’t Atlus, they over charge, locking the physical edition to the over priced and expensive LE aswell. Why did they lock us out of the American store when we could import (including our wonderful 20% vat tax on top still being cheaper)? Plus their head pretty much said “oh the Europeans have stopped complaining so they must be okay with it”. They did it all on purpose and the fact IFI sends their games from the same place in the UK and it costs ALOT less proves again its on purpose, the only thing they have in common is the stupidly high shipping for both.

    1. Yes there is and thats what I presume they mean. Its crap anyway, they locked us out of the US store to block us from importing then charged stupidly high prices for everything. Personally I hope they crash and burn here, I’ll just import its cheaper anyway.

  1. Wait…

… doesn’t SEGA own Altus now? Because if so, then SEGA can just publish the game.

Why is that so difficult for SEGA to d… *Looks at Bayonetta 2* … oh.

        1. They don’t like paying for stuff to be made, it seems.

And ironically, they’re probably still earning a royalty.
