Citizens Of Earth Has Been Removed From The Nintendo 3DS eShop

The Nintendo 3DS version of Citizens of Earth is temporarily unavailable for purchase. The game has been removed from the Nintendo eShop due to the recent discovery of an exploit that allowed hackers to run unsigned code on 3DS. The free Citizens of Earth demo is also no where to be found on the 3DS eShop. There’s currently no word on when the game or its demo will be back up, but we will keep you posted.

      1. Nothing is truly unexploitable, and Nintendo doesn’t develop every game; It’s less a matter of leaving entry points unchecked and more like unknown, unexpected behaviors of otherwise normal code. It’s called exploiting for a reason.

        1. Doesn’t mean they can’t check the particular games of the bundle for possible entry points before allowing the studios to talk with HB. For what I understand, the entry point in CoE is in the boot-up. That, at least, should have been checked.

      2. nintendo did not develop the game, neither did atlus, they are the publisher. nintendo isnt responsible for debugging indie games, they are only responsible for accepting requests to put indie games on their systems

        1. See below. Those studios wouldn’t have been able to put their games on the Humble Bundle without Nintendo’s permission. They don’t have to check every single game they put up on the eShop, but to not check those games while knowing the spike in sales those would have thanks to HB is pretty lazy in my opinion. They’re the first interested in avoiding this kind of exploits, they should take charge with these special cases.

  1. while i do like using hacks and exploits the devs should just make a patch to prevent that sort of thing, ironfall was removed than re-released with an update patch.

  2. I don’t know why they bother. The exploit is a secondary entry point, meaning you need to be using another kind of exploit to access it anyway. Chances are, if you can use humblehax, you can run .cia files already. Removing this is not going to suddenly unhack every 3DS out there.

  3. What a stupid thing to do. The exploit requires that you ALREADY HAVE an exploit to run Homebrew. So everybody who doesnt have access to the Homebrew Channel cant do anything with it. The same with VVVVV which they also took down.

Funny though, I dont see them taking down Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon which is also exploitable through the use of homebrew.

  5. Not that this game interested me but seriously? >.< You'd think since this is Nintendo's system that they'd at least inspect the codes of games coming to their console to make sure there isn't anything that can be used on said game to hack their gaming system. It's called a preemptive strike, ladies & gentlemen.
