Watch out if you are a Pokémon GO player with a jailbroken iPhone or a rooted Android device as these devices are no longer compatible with the ultra-popular mobile application. Those with jailbroken or rooted devices are being told that “This device, OS, or software is not compatible with Pokémon GO.”
Update: It looks like jailbroken and rooted devices are officially unsupported in Pokemon Go https://t.co/XasGZULViX pic.twitter.com/y58AOCitlm

Thanks, Nintendo Sub-Commander Cereza

I guess they aren’t taking any chances with cheaters.
Why?
What’s wrong if I want CyanogenMod?
Assuming everyone with a rooted device is cheating is a pretty extreme assumption.
||We can’t have “insecurities” running loose…||
The only insecurities on display here are Niantic’s.
||Since humans always cheat and often enjoys it specifically when it comes to technology, it’s illogical not to create contingency plans…||
Sure thing, but there’s creating contingency plans and there’s shooting down every rooted device, if you catch my drift.
||These are troubled times, needs extreme methods…||
Assuming all humans cheat is a pretty bold statement, Commander.
In my opinion, when it comes to single player games, if you wanna cheat, I think it’s fine as long as it doesn’t affect anyone else’s experience. But as soon as you start cheating in a multiplayer game, you’ve crossed a line and deserve to get kicked/banned.
||I don’t deal with individualism among lesser lifeforms…||
I guess OnePlus phones are flagged as unsupported.. Oh, well. Nintendo doing Nintendo things.
You know that Nintendo is almost completely uninvolved with PoGo?
Oh well. Sucks to do illegal things
I know right?
Jailbreaking or rooting your phone isn’t illegal. Its using your phone to it most of it potential, In my eyes your wasting the power of your phone if you don’t do so. :)
Yeah Yeah whatever, they’ll find a way to hack it again, just a little bump in the road
haha yeah thats the problem with trying to stop hackers, you can’t. And doing so is just an invitation to break said challenge, give it a month or two and we’ll have root and jailbreak work-arounds. lol

Something tells me this could be a bug with something they’re trying to test out. Might be why the update hasn’t popped up on the app store yet for me.
I mean, rootcloak exists so this means nothing really. Granted, you need xposed for it.
Rootcloak doesn’t work. The root detection uses Google’s “SafteyNet”, which is also used in Google Pay. Right now the only way to bypass this is “Magisk”, which only works on Android 6 with an unlocked bootloader.
Ahh I see, what about ios? I heard their spoofing stuff was sideloaded and didnt need to be jailbroken? Even so, its not gonna stop people from bypassing it anyways.
Whelp, there goes my Pokemon Go account. Oh well, I only played for around 40 minutes overall. Not that great anyways
}{ Well played Nintendrone… Well played… }{
Okay back to playing AS.
Absolutely idiotic. There’s a giant percentage of Android devices that are rooted, and a lot of the not as well known brands come pre-rooted or have some type of root access pre installed(My Oneplus). I’ve invested many hours into the game, and I’m not letting it go to waste because of this, so I spent the entire day trying to install this Magisk thing. Really wish I didn’t have to do that, big time sink and difficult to get working, but I just want to play the game you guys made. Hope the inevitable active user drop thats gonna come with this sends a message.
First of all, the more features that get added without the radar being update the more I get pissed off. This is getting absurd. The most basic feature is still broken. Buddy system? You can make Pokemon follow me and earn candies but you still can’t help me find Pokemon? And you’re even trying to block rooted and jailbroken devices? Stupid and a waste of time. Anyone who has jailbroken or rooted their phone knows there are bypasses to prevent certain apps from detecting the jailbreak/root. I give it a few days before this isn’t even an issue. Stop wasting your time “fixing” these things and work on that radar damnit!
rooting your device is very hard and i don’t know how can people can manage that kind of behavior.
Considering all you need to do to root android today is the kingroot app, then let it run its magic, to root this might be devastating to pokemon go usage.
