We had our suspicions it was coming, but now Eurogamer has confirmed that they have heard from their sources that Pokémon Sun & Moon will be arriving on the Nintendo Switch. The game is currently under development with the codename Pokémon Stars and will launch sometime next year. Pokémon Stars is being developed by the Sun and Moon team at Game Freak and Pokémon will be tradable between Sun + Moon and Stars via the Pokémon Box app.

I rememberd when the wii camed out and everybody waited outside the gamestores to get a wii. It didnt got sold out. But I´m scared the switch will.

That would have been so cool! I think someone else mentioned that eclipse would have been an amazing name for the third entry on here a while ago. Sun is daytime, moon and nighttime, and an eclipse would be a mingling of both if you get my purport. I guess with Stars they wanted to make it sound like it was a gathering of great entities, especially since it will be on the Switch.

Damn…..the Switch is gonna sell out quickly if that ends up being true which it most likely is. A console version of a mainline Pokémon game will automatically give the Switch a huge advantage whether it is a launch day or a launch window title

If this is true it’s happening a lot sooner than I thought it would and shows that Nintendo isn’t messing around. I thought Pokemons first appearance on Switch would be with Gen VIII. I also thought the third game for Sun & Moon would be Eclipse.

Since the Switch is replacing the 3DS, I can see this happening. Would most likely be a remaster or third version exclusive.
If this is true, I hope it’s more like the old Yellow, Crystal, Emerald, & Platinum games that was a third pillar of the main Pokemon games. If not, I guess I’d be fine if it’s a suitable sequel instead. If it’s a sequel, I doubt it will come in 2017, though. Maybe 2018. Then again, it wouldn’t be the first time a new main Pokemon game came out just a year after the previous entry released. In which case, it will release during the last 2 months of 2017.
Oh & please! Name it Eclipse since those are created either by the Moon blocking out the sun (a solar eclipse) or the moon appears darkened as it passes into the earth’s shadow (a lunar eclipse.) Naming it star just sounds stupid since the sun IS a star.
If it’s true, it’ll be the first time since Battle Revolution that we have gotten a main series Pokémon game on a home console (I count PokéPark, Rumble and Pokkén as spin-offs) — and that was over 9 years ago, if you can believe it. That would definitely be a top seller for Christmas 2017, but what I really want is for the Switch to have GameCube titles available through the eShop. Then I can laugh at Intelligent Systems and say “I told you so”, when more people buy Thousand-Year Door again, than have bought Color Splash.
Boy, is this rumor is true, it could be huge for determining Nintendo’s strategy.
If Pokemon is already going to jump to Switch, it could mean other mostly handheld franchises like Kirby and Fire Emblem could be heading there next instead of 3DS.
