With less than a week left until Nintendo’s big Switch event, the supposed leaks are coming in thick and fast. The latest leak is supposedly the logos for several upcoming Switch games. Posted on Imgur, it includes logos for Mario Kart, Splatoon and an unannounced Kirby game. However, Laura Dale has quickly chimed in to challenge the rumours. According to Dale, the pictures are almost certainly fake. Do you think Laura is right? Tell us below.

First off all, that’s a shitty sentence. Second of all, she used to work for Polygon and Kotaku. You don’t lose your connections just because you stop working some place. Don’t we still not know if its releasing in Europe on launch day? And unless I’m mistaken, Laura lives in Europe so is it possible she heard from her likely European sources that it wasn’t coming out at launch and then later heard that it might still come out later in Europe but IS still coming out in March?
Also we all assumed that BOTW would be a launch game for the Switch which we know is coming out in March so it’s not like that Japanese magazine was making any bold statements or assumptions that nobody else made before.

Maybe if you post something online about anything, you should look back on it before posting another one that contradicts something you’ve said already unless it’s for a VERY good reason. Laura isn’t “making rumors”. She was giving her opinion on the legitimacy of a rumor that someone else started.
Those logos were uploaded to Imgur by someone named dragonite74. Laura is saying that she doesn’t know if they are real but she doesn’t think they are because almost all of those games were either shown off already by Nintendo or were talked about by her. On the other hand, nobody ever mentioned the Kirby game before and this leaker somehow couldn’t get a full picture of it’s name or even type its name out, so that makes her think it’s fake.
The other reason she thinks it might be fake is that she believes it’s unlikely that all of these games are coming out on launch day.
All she gave was her opinion. She wasn’t “making rumors”.
Now I’ll add my opinion. It seems possible that the games that are essentially enhanced ports of Wii U games could come out on launch day, but the Rabbids/Mario crossover is an RPG which is kind of an uncommon genre to be released for a system on launch day.
So that’s why huh? Well I recently don’t believe what she says so my guess is, the game is real. I can tell.

I doubt Nintendo/NOA/HAL/GoodFeel/whoever would use this typeface in creating a game’s logo wordmark.
It’s not like they haven’t used known typefaces in logos before. I forget what font the older Mario games use but it’s known. That being said, I think they would have made the logo text by hand for a Kirby game.
The older Mario Bros. games all used custom typefaces. You can find a lot of knockoff ones on websites like DaFont now. Even later titles like the New Super Mario Bros. titles sport a custom typeface for their logo (if you find a Mario typeface, it is made by someone who has copied the game’s logo and expanded it into a font family).
Every Nintendo franchise has had custom lettering/typography for each logo. Show me one that hasn’t.
Also, you may be confusing the well known typeface “Bauhaus” for the Mario Bros. title screen logo. Though this was something designers at Nintendo based the logo off, it is highly altered. I doubt anyone would use a cheesy “Lasso” font from some unknown source as the logo for a new mainstream Kirby title.

My mistake. You’re correct. I just typed “SUPER MARIO BROS” in Bauhaus in Photoshop and the A, S, P, and one of the Rs are very different. The Os are also different but when I swapped them with 0s, they look a lot more similar but Nintendo’s version uses a straight line for the gap.
