In Singapore and Hong Kong it’s believed (by user ‘redartedreddit’ on Reddit) that the only way to purchase a Nintendo Switch at launch is if you buy Zelda: Breath Of The Wild and 1-2-Switch as well. This information is coming from a person who lives in Hong Kong and here’s a quick rundown of his observations from his (rather angry) post:

  • customers in Singapore/Hong Kong are forced to get the Switch as a bundle
  • bundle includes a Switch, Zelda: Breath of the Wild and 1-2 Switch
  • no word on pricing yet
  • the order to sell the Switch like this has come from Nintendo themselves
  • if customers preordered before this bundle mandate came down, they still have to get both games
  • if the bundle option isn’t taken, money is refunded and preorder is cancelled

  1. 1-2 Switch should be bundled with all Switch consoles… for free. i have seen nothing that indicates this should be a stand alone title.

I would play it with my kids and have some fun with it, but doubt I would seek it out.

  2. They have to buy both BotW AND 1,2 Switch? Or just one or the other? If one or the other, that’s not so bad as they can just get BotW. Unless they are getting that for Wii U but still getting Switch on day 1. But then the question becomes… Why? Why buy Switch day 1 if you aren’t gonna get BotW? Might as well wait for Splatoon 2 if you don’t mind paying for online after the free trial ends. Or wait for Super Mario Odyssey.

    • They (or we, since I’m affected) has to buy both Zelda: Breath of the Wild and 1-2 Switch.
You’re right, why buy Switch day 1 if you aren’t gonna get BotW / 1-2 Switch. Most of us has the same thinking too. Some of my friends has already cancelled their pre-order because of this.
