Aonuma: Monolith Soft’s Role In Breath Of The Wild Is “Minor, But Still Fairly Important”

Monolith Soft is a Japanese developer that is a reliable asset to the Zelda development team. They assisted with graphics design and other artistic elements for Skyward Sword. According to Zelda: Breath of the Wild producer Eiji Aonuma, Monolith will be working on the topographic arrangements of Hyrule, a role that Aonuma says is “minor, but still fairly important”. Aonuma explained that Breath Of The Wild will contain the most open-world version of Hyrule yet. Because of this, he feels that it’s vital that the game make the land not all look the same. As a result, Monolith will work on mountains, hills and gullies. Aonuma says that they will be all over the place.

This won’t be the only game coming this year that Monolith had involvement in. After Zelda: Breath Of The Wild releases on the Nintendo Switch as a launch title on March 3rd, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is planned to release sometime in 2017.

      1. Its hell month. The new saying should be “a countdown watched slows the freaking universe down!” But you can’t help but watch your countdown… MARCH 3rd FREAKING GET HERE ALREADY YOU DOUCHE!!!!

  1. I’d say making sure the landscape isn’t boring is pretty fucking important!! I’m glad Monolith is on the job!

  2. King Kalas X3 {Greatness Awaits at Sony PlayStation 4! Hopefully it will also await us at Nintendo Switch if Nintendo doesn't FUCK things up again!}

    With an open world game, working on the landscape is far from being a minor job. *shrug*
