We can confirm that, across Europe, Nintendo Switch sold more in its launch weekend than any other Nintendo hardware in history.
Launch title The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has not only been bestowed with some of the highest review scores in gaming history, it’s also the biggest-selling Nintendo launch title ever in Europe, even outselling Wii Sports in first weekend sales.
And all this in March – traditionally a quiet time for the games industry.

BOOM
Doomed since 1995.
haha… no matter what side you are on in terms of the wii u (like or think it is stupid) you have to respect the zeal of Nintendo and especially the new prez to completely scrap such an investment and go full speed ahead on the Switch. Whether marketing, ease of development or a useless (in some people’s eyes) second screen the Wii U failed and now the Switch was marketed so much better and does just what both kids and adults want… kids like handheld, adults like playing on the TV… that is just how it is
Switch breaking records in US and Europe is definitely a good sign. Hopefully this will persuade third parties to be more enthusiastic about making/porting games to it.
and if it so easy to develop for, then they can get games to it by the fall/holiday no problem
I want some actual numbers from Nintendo. All we’ve heard from them is that the Switch is breaking records. Hopefully they release some figures with their yearly earnings report.
…
||My war against the Xbot disease has been confirmed, even in my territory the presence is far stronger than the Wii U ever had or even the Wii for that matter…||
Numbers from my outpost in the eastern front line are also rising at a significant rate Commander.
Victory will be swift!
||Good, they will finally be crushed and the end of this disgusting box and its slaves will be sent to the void…||
Just drop it already….
||Only an imbecile drops the truth…||
We can confirm that our new weapons have been succesfull
NA and EU both broke sales records. Awesome!
We have 313k in Japan, 80k in the UK, and 105k in France.
With record breaking sales in the Americas we can assume 1m sold so far, but I’d like to see solid WW numbers.
Selling each one for profit.
That’s a new record.
Wii U was just unlucky. Good thing lightning doesn’t strike twice. Now Nintendo can have their next runaway success.
as a grown man and a successful nintendo invester wiiu was A STOP GAP SYSTEM whilst changing the internal way nintendo work and building a 1.3 billion dollar development centre
iwata even addmitted wiiu wasnt there true next systwem and to look out for what was coming THEY DIDNT SPEND A PENNY ON MARKETING THE THING
YOU AND THE INDUSTRY GOT PLAYED i told you peope this over and over they are again going to DISRUPT THE INDUSTRY just like wii ds
THIS IS ALL A LONG TERM PLAN
