Today was Reggie’s birthday, but that doesn’t mean President of Nintendo America took the day off. Reggie was interviewed by Fox News today, where he spoke of E3. This was the first time the company has talked about their E3 2017 plans, and it seems the Switch’s release will not stop Nintendo from putting on a show. According to Reggie, “we’re gonna have a big E3 this year”. He says Nintendo will be “showcasing a variety of games”, although Reggie did say he won’t reveal what they are. However, he did say that E3 will be a “major opportunity for us to showcase not only Nintendo Switch, but also content coming to Nintendo 3DS”. Nothing was said about how they will be presenting these games, but this is likely because the company is waiting until later.
So stoked!!
there better be some surprises and not just games already revealed.
I fully expect Pokémon to be there.
I hope for a Metroid announcement and trailer.
Yah same!… I need a new Metroid! And F-Zero!… Bayo 3, madworld 2, vanquish 2… Pikmin 4, Starfox, geist 2 loads! I don’t want to see any games for 3ds lol they have loads switch needs the games! Oh and a full VC! With loads more nindie games hehe
I’m certain that development was started on the WiiU but was ultimately (secretly) moved to the NS.
I don’t doubt that at all. Rumor has it that it will be using a modern engine, or similar.
Dont. You shouldnt expect any games to be there. Pokemon has never been on a home console so you shouldn’t expect anything to be there (unless it has already been announced) . This is the problem with rumours, if it doesnt happen then you end up dissapointed. Its fine to speculate but limit your expectations
GameFreak has already put out that they want someone with experience in high quality graphics. Plus, Switch is still a handheld.
When you end up wrong about Pokemon & I’m right, I’m gonna be laughing at you. But if you’re right & I’m wrong, I’ll be laughing with you. If it turns out the Switch & 3DS are getting the same mainline Pokemon game, I guess this little thing between us will just keep on trucking til we see which version actually sells the most. xD
I really don’t even get what you’re trying to do here. It’s a bit overkill.
Just trying to remind you people that Nintendo & their affiliates have let you down & all it takes is the wrong turn for them to do it again. That & some of you have sadly gone a bit into fanboy territory with the Switch & aren’t thinking straight at times.
It’ll take a lot to let me down with a system that’ll have all upcoming games and not having to buy a second one.
let you down before & all it takes* Forgot to add before.
I’m thinking it will just be expanding on games already revealed. Nintendo already has a plethora of first party titles coming out for the year. I’m not going to get my hopes up for anything more.
As a 3DS gamer, happy that they’re still planning games for it (this year is probably the last batch though). But it might be better to focus everything on Switch soon. Don’t abandon 3DS yet, because they only made 1 new nintendo 3ds xl exclusive; i feel like the potential might be wasted. But within a year or 2, try to focus all resources into switch: it’ll shorten dev times, and create more games on one system, plus there is much more collaboration between portable and console teams.
Nintendo always waited a few years before killing off previous handheld support. Home consoles are the ones that seem to die right when their successor hits shelves.
Maybe because it just cost far more to develop games for them.
It might be because their handheld consoles have always had pretty strong sales, so it is profitable to keep those systems alive. I mean, the Nintendo DS line and the Gameboy line combined sold almost as much as all of Nintendo’s home console sales combined.
But if you have no buyers it’s easier to sell 50.000 copies for a 3DS game than for a Wii U game. Breath of the Wild would have been nearly a flop on the Wii U, while cold sales on Poochy & Yoshi’s Woolly World are tolerable because initial investment was low. Luckily BotW sells good on the Nintendo Switch.
I’d expect those 3DS games getting Switch ports real soon.
There’s rumors already saying that the 3DS’s time could be up late next year. I don’t see Nintendo supporting the 3DS once the Switch really starts selling. Game Freak announcing Pokémon early for the Switch should tell you the 3DS’s days are numbered
I’m hoping for a kid Icarus game.
Hopefully a sequel to Uprising and a remastered version of the first game comes to the Switch
Oh a remastered? That is a good one my friend.
Im hoping for that too but sadly i dont think it will happen
It might happen. I just know it.
It’s going to be an interesting year or two for sure.
Nintendo is admittedly in unexplored waters, and what the switch does in the next year, holidays and 2018 will most certainly decide the fate of Nintendo’s two-console business model.
If they do eliminate the 3DS, I will buy one more so I have one down the road, and then I’ll wait for a Metroid or Monster Hunter bundle. (2-3 years from now maybe?)
If the Switch’s momentum drops and Nintendo develops a new handheld, I’ll jump on that, although, I think Zelda is going to be a long-term system seller.
Don’t let us down, Nintendo. Give it all you got.
Yeah, I expected this year’s E3 to be an exciting one for Nintendo, with the Switch being released. But it’s not the first time that I thought Nintendo’s E3 conference/digital event was going to be spectacular. I was horribly let down a few times (such as the year where they talked about the mediocre NintendoLand the whole time). Or the Wii Music demonstration from Miyamoto. Ugh! But I doubt this year will be disappointing.
There’s a LOT of major titles that could be announced for the Switch. I’m hoping for Animal Crossing and Pikmin 4. It would also be sweet to hear about another Mario Golf and Mario Baseball game for the Switch. And maybe Mario Party 11. As long as it’s not like 9 and 10, with that stupid car thingy, and stupid luck based games.
Your forgetting two years ago when they talked about amiibo festivus, mario tennis ultra smosh, and metroid prime federation farce.
I want to say you forgot Star Fox Zero but that game actually looked promising during that E3. It wasn’t til months later some of us were hugely letdown.
Mario Odessy, Pikmin 4, Pokemon Stars, Mother 3, Prime 4, New IP, and Smash for Switch. Thats the line up, in that order. My uncle works for Nintendo.
Metroid confirmed.
I’ve heard people say that since before Federation Force.
Would be nice though.
Whatever it is, I fully expect Nintendo to pluck the swans feathers before release. It’s all about the money at this point.
I wonder what the 3DS’s swan song will be. Just a few months till we find out.
super mario sunshine 2 (i can hope)
That would be incredibly stupid to put on 3DS.
hey it worked for luigi’s mansion, you never know…
I meant at this point in time.
well there is already 70 million 3ds’s out there so it could sell pretty good. it has a built in install base, it would probably sell more on the 3ds than the switch
The 3DS is on its way out is my point. There’s 150 million PS2’s out there. Should Sony still make games for that system?
but the difference is that the 3ds is still going strong, last year pokemon sold a ton on the “old system”, one of the best selling games on the 3ds in fact, so i dont see why a super mario sunshine 2 do well in early to late 2018 if annouced at e3. Im not saying i think it would even happen but it would be a hell of a statement from nintendo showing they are still supporting the system
Do you not remember Luigi’s Mansion 2. First one was a GameCube game, 2nd made of the 3ds.
See my response to the other person.
its aikatsu stars for the 3DS
I expect a Metroid Prime reveal trailer showcasing an emphasis on competetive multiplayer, and I also expect a major Pokemon announcement. E3 is Nintendo’s chance to change a lot of people’s views on what the Switch can and will do. I hope they play all the right cards.
If Nintendo would create a MATURE Metroid experience, let it be scary, allow pg-13 swear words (damn, hell… maybe shit) and create a great campaign and multiplayer similar to Mass Effect, I feel like that would be the final straw to start pulling mature-game gamers to Nintendo again.
Throw in Eternal Darkness HD or sequel for good measure, … yeah, I’m dreaming.
Nintendo’s got their heads so far up those fucking soccer moms’ asses in the US & other countries that they wouldn’t even try to give us a mature Metroid. They’d be too scared of the 10 moms out with signs picketing NoA HQ while ignoring the other 90 people out with signs celebrating. “Oh no! 10 people out of 100 don’t like what we’re doing! We’re so scared! Quick! Withdraw the M rated Metroid game ASAP!! *they proceed to piss & shit their pants, cry to their mommy, & hide in a corner afterward with their face covered in tears & snot*” lol
Nintendo……please drop those bombs……please
This is exciting, HOWEVER…I think sometimes what Nintendo thinks is exciting is not exciting to the fans.
I.E. Star Fox Zero & Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival (which I enjoyed, but overall did not receive a lot of approval.)
I do think Nintendo has gotten better about listening to fans though. Especially with the Switch itself.
What I think we will see is Fire Emblem Heroes, Pikmin 4, Metroid, and Super Smash Bros. Switch/Deluxe. Also more on Super Mario Odyssey and ARMS (if it isn’t already out by that time.) I think those will be the big guns that we know of. I also wouldn’t be surprised if they talk about DLC for Zelda, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and Splatoon 2.
When it comes to New IPs and 3rd Party, that is a toss up. I could see maybe one or two new IPs announced. Not including Ever Oasis (which I think will get talked about for 3DS.)
I am hopeful for Animal Crossing and Pokemon. Actually, it’d be a perfect E3 for me personally if they revealed a new Animal Crossing, a true Pokemon game, and Super Smash Bros. for Switch.
Please Nintendo, give me Smash with the Ice Climbers, Inklings, and Spring Man/Ribbon Girl, and promises of more DLC characters (Decidueye, etc.) and stages. 3DS stages ported over along with Smash Run. Perfect game. Ugh, I digress. (Before anyone says Sakurai is tired of making Smash games. You are correct, but this wouldn’t be an entirely new Smash from scratch. Instead, a port with a few visual and programming enchancements, and thus wouldn’t be a strenuous to develop new material for. It would still be the Smash Bros for the Switch though. A “cheap” roundabout way of putting a Smash Bros game on the Switch? Yes, but who cares?)
Here we go. Hopefully this is the E3 we’ve been waiting for, for about 4 years now! Last good one was in 2013, where they showed off Smash Bros for the first time and DKCTF and SMTIV and Pokemon X and Y and Super Mario 3D World and Mario Kart 8 and Wind Waker HD and Wonderful 101 and Bayonetta 2 and Xenoblade Chronicles X.
I hope this year they show off some killer apps! Pikmin 4? Animal Crossing on Switch? New Metroid game!! Maybe some secret 3rd party exclusives (times exclusives?) like Bayonetta 3, Mario x Rabbids or Beyond Good and Evil reboot? I really have my hopes set high for this one.
I’m also excited to see some more Mario 3D footage on Switch as well as Fire Emblem Warriors and the new Shin Megami Tensei game.
This year is gonna be good. :)
Actually I though E3 2014 was really good too. We had our first look at Zelda U, Hyrule Warriors, Mario Maker, Pokemon ORAS, Splatoon, Amiibo, the Robot Chicken Skit, and who could forget that Smash Tournament and Pac-man was revealed.
But I agree. This year, Nintendo’s got so much potential, they just need to show the right stuff!
Kid Icarus game for the switch anyone? I’m kinda hoping for it.
||Do you not know death when you see it Xbots?…||
||This is our hour…||
Xbox is in pretty bad shape at the moment from what I can tell. If Reggie isn’t full of his typical lip-service bullshit, then you might just get your shot at a critical Xbox blow.
The Commander will hit me over the head for this, But Xbox Scorpio is RIGHT on the horizon. It’s sure to impress. It might be a formidable weapon to neutralize.
It’s a nice piece of tech, but without ammo, an empty shotgun is only so useful as a melee weapon. ;D
Nintendo Launched with Zelda. Microsoft will need several GREAT games to repel firepower of that magnitude.
It’s a trap?
Promises and more promises. Empty words, meaningless statements.
This is everything Noa and Reggie can deliver.
||I find your lack of faith disrupting…||
House: “Did anyone tell you you’re a real killjoy?”
Don’t use House to defend Nintendo. I truly believe he’d tear Nintendo a new asshole & leave a number of fanboys & people like you sucking on your thumb with tears running down your face while in the fetal position in mommy’s lap. Least he’d find out exactly what’s wrong with Nintendo & effectively kill it which would save Nintendo, though. A shame he’s not real, though. :/ Nintendo could use Doctor House.
Bayonetta 3.
I need nothing else.
Bayo 1&2 collection on a cart would be nice too.
I think I would squee if there was a new Bayonetta game for Switch.
anything is bigger than a zelda only e3 like last year
Is that why Zelda was the most anticipated game of E3?
this is the E3 that could make or break switch so full power is required. I am optimistic though.
I doubt it will break the switch considering sales and upcoming games I think the switch will be fine for this year.loz and a new mario game is good enough for me.
i would buy hyrule warriors a 3rd time if they put it on switch.
Mother 3.
I don’t think the 3DS line is going anywhere, at least not yet.
How can the Switch possibly stand up to the 3DS in the way of battery life and ease of access. I can’t see it happening, unless Nintendo decided to drop an updated version of the Switch. Honestly though, I’ve never had a gaming machine that’s as easy to bust out and play as the 3DS.
I guess we’ll see!
I wouldn’t count it out just yet either.
If by some miracle Nintendo continues to keep selling Switches post-Zelda, then Nintendo will certainly consider it.
I am hoping for a 2D mario game.
People, please don’t get your hopes up too high, because then you’ll be disappointed no matter how good it actually is and you won’t be able to appreciate it. I’d say things like Odyssey, Fire Emblem Warriors and Xenoblade Chronicles 2 are most likely going to be shown. I think it might be somewhat soon to say Metroid will be there. I hope next year at the latest, but if it is this year that’d be a nice surprise. I would think maybe the Switch equivalent of Virtual Console could be shown and Zelda DLC would be talked about. Along with the Rabbids and Super Mario crossover project. Then hopefully Pokémon (Sun/Moon gen 3rd game or whatever it may be) and that’s probably enough to sell a lot of consoles this holiday season.
I’d like to hear about the Smash port or whatever along with a date for the rest of the amiibo, i’d like a Bayonetta 3 reveal, a few more big 1st party games like Animal Crossing, Pikmin, etc. and I’d like to hear a decent amount from third party devs trying to support Switch. But I’m not really expecting any of that. If it happens I’ll be pleasantly surprised.
And somewhere in there if they show us what Retro has been doing and give us Mother 3 (along with 1 + 2 😊) that’d be amazing!!
Better not be more about the same games we already know about (Splatoon, MK8 and ARMS). Then again it is Nintendo. Sigh. 😔
IT’S KIRBY’S 25th ANNIVERSARY! We’re getting a Kirby game announced!!
Just give me a new F-Zero in the vein of GX- that will make it big for me.

“Big E3″…relatively speaking…
This next year or so will definitely be the 3DS’ last legs. So far it seems like it’s gonna go out with a bang. With Fire Emblem, Pikmin and Monster Hunter on the way, it’s looking good. Here’s hoping for just one more Pokemon, like when B2W2 came out on the DS a good year into the 3DS’ life.
the 3ds isn’t going anywhere for a while the switch isn’t that impressive, It’s just a more compact wii u gamepad with a beefed up gpu , processor and slightly better graphics.
Considering how I noticed a number of places in Alola with building supplies unused sitting around, mostly support beams, I’m expecting Sun & Moon to get sequels with the return of gyms. If so, I just hope it’s not a complete return to original form with Pokemon because I like not having to use fucking HMs & wasting a slot in my team for an HM slave.
It better be that Reggie Oiling Muscles video game I’ve been dreaming about for the last 5 years now…. Uuuuhhhh I mean, Zero Suit Samus X Bayonetta Mud Wrestling! Yeah!
Don’t worry, sweetheart. I’m sure shirtless, underwear Link in BOTW can hold you over just a few more months. :P
Only problem with this report is that fox news is the king and OG of ‘fake news’
I hope they decide to localize beyond the labryinth, gundam the 3d battle and some other japanese exclusive 3ds titles the great ace attorney would be good and miles edgeworth 2 would be a great start.
No expectations. Just waiting for the show.
Donnie does it again, consider me stoked!
