It would seem that Nintendo have very recently banned some users in the 3DS modding community. Multiple reports on sites such as Reddit and GBAtemp.net have cropped up with modders stating that they’re receiving an Error Code 002-0102 — that says “access to online services has been restricted by Nintendo.” No official reason for the ban has been given. The Netflix, Hulu and Youtube apps on their systems are locked and cannot be used. Friend Lists have also reportedly been rendered unusable following the ban.
Although Nintendo are yet to release a statement for the recent banwave, the most likely reason for their action is to crack down on the use of unofficial homebrew and firmware on 3DS.

Does anyone know if having a 3DS capture card installed affects this in any way? I’ve always thought of getting one and don’t know if they mod the actual code or anything to the system to make it work. If so, I guess I’ll pass on a capture card.
no man, i have my own 3DS with capture card and doesnt matter, remember, is a Hardware mod, so is very hard to find that kind of thing via Software ;)

Yeah. It’s not even just people with modded 3DS’, you know. People with completely unmodded 3DS’ have been getting banned as well, for no reason.

I don’t when people mod things. It’s always nice to customize your devices. But when it comes to piracy and theft, then they are rightfully banned from using the 3DS. Piracy is such a disgrace.

Can’t say I didn’t told anyone this would happen. Some people in a group having own Theme’s on their system and they said they can’t trace it in any way, I did warn them they eventually will, Well, Who doesn’t wants to listen has to see it for themselves then. Modding a system in any way not Permitted by the company is Illigal and this was to happen eventually. They are in their full right.

Not that it matters anyways. There are very easy ways of unbanning yourself if you have certain CFW.
Unless they are modding paid DLC into their games, this is bullshit on Nintendo’s part.
