Retroism Unholy Night For SNES Is Now Available

Retroism Unholy Night: The Darkness Hunter is now available for purchase to be played on the Super Nintendo Entertainment Console. Originally a Kickstarter project that failed to meet its goal of $52,500, Unholy Night will be the first game released for the SNES since Frogger launched on the system in 1998. Retroism, a haven for classic games, picked up the game back in April for release after the retailer was listed under the game’s pre-order page on Amazon.

Retroism Unholy Night: The Darkness Hunter is a 2D fighting game that was developed by previous employees of SNK, who worked on such titles as Samurai Showdown and The King of Fighters games. Unholy Night features a story mode that focuses on the six playable monster hunters that have committed to a life of ridding the world of its most horrendous creations. Each fighter has eight special moves and super moves that rely on a three-level meter. When a fighter reaches low health, the character will gain certain bonuses to help balance the battle.

You can purchase Retroism Unholy Night: The Demon Hunter from Amazon for $49.99 and, as of yet, there is no word of a digital release. If you can’t locate your SNES in the meantime, check out some of the gameplay in the video below.

      1. Even though it isn’t SNK itself, they still have a INCREDIBLE track record. The Neo Geo hardware line, Fatal Fury, Art of Fighting, King of Fighters, Samurai Showdown just to name some of their fighting games. These guys are the best when it comes to 2D fighting. Even though it would have helped if it was SNK official…

  1. Wow, maybe Nintendo should release the original nes in 2018 and then the snes 3-4yrs later and then 64, cube, wii, miss out the wii u and then switch again. Could do well

  2. I’m not sure if this is 100% true. There’s another game called ‘Sydney Hunter and the Curse of the Mayan’ that’s been released for the SNES (and other consoles). Which I found out from YouTuber Gamester81. And it seems like there were others as well. But they were so over-priced, I said Screw it!
