Project Octopath Traveler has been revealed during today’s Nintendo Direct. The title isn’t permanent, as it’s a working title. However, it was very clear what the game will be about. The game is “a new RPG adventure from the minds at Square Enix who brought you Bravely Default”. We’ve included the footage down below, so feel free to check it out. The game releases worldwide in 2018 on the Switch.
Project Octopath Traveler Is Coming In 2018

Looks pretty good! I loved Bravely Default, so I can’t wait to try the demo for this!
Same here! I also plan to play the #$%& out of the Etrian Odyssey 5 demo too!
The demo looks and plays great… But i don’t think i have the time for a full RPG game, damn… I never get to finish one of those.
I played the demo. I thought it was pretty fun! Unfortunately, no dialogue choices and zero change in appearance when changing gear is kind of a deal breaker for me… What do you guys think?
Yeah, I do like having the option of choosing some dialogue. However, the main point of any RPG for me is the story, and this one seems like it will deliver AND be re-playable! I normally don’t like to replay games for at least a couple years, I wanna have to figure things out again, not remember them.
Anyway, I played it and the story, Olberic’s at least, pulled me in pretty quickly. Most of all is the look though! WOW! It’s so unique and creative. I’ve been looking forward to this one since the first Switch Direct. Definitely gonna buy it.
In this day & age, it’s laziness from developers that stops your character’s appearance from changing when you change gear. Not letting those changes in appearance show up during cutscenes is pretty bad, too. (Nier: Automata does that, sadly, where the changes in the characters’ appearances don’t show up in cutscenes, either. Thankfully, that’s the only disappointing thing with the game. It’d be nice if they did an update at some point that did let this stuff show up in cutscenes but I doubt it.)
No multiplayer?
Okay……

Looks very good, I’m looking forward to it. Looks like a good game from Square (finally).
The art style makes me want to cry tears of joy. It’s so beautiful!
I wonder if Sonic Mania 2 could also use 2D sprites with 3D aesthetics, like this game does.
