The SNES Mini hasn’t even hit shelves yet and it would already appear that it can be hacked. We’ve already learned that the SNES Mini and its innards are practically identical to those found in the NES Mini but it has now been confirmed that the program used to hack the NES Mini is also compatible with the miniature Super Nintendo.
A user on Reddit states that “After playing a few games, I wanted to see how it would behave when thrown at Hakchi2. To my surprise (though I guess I shouldn’t have been given the hardware similarities), it CAN have its kernel dumped and re-written with it with the current version.”

Who cares!
And this is why I’ll be buying a second SNES Classic (eventually). That is, if stores have enough stock to still find them in November. I don’t want to hack my only SNES Classic. I’m not normally into hacking, but the idea of adding a bunch more games to it sounds awesome. Particularly the games that are too darn expensive, such as Sunset Riders.
Let’s not forget Shadowrun.
Will the NES classic be hackable to turn it into an SNES classic?
That is a really good question. I think it may depend on the amount of internal storage in the system.
This is not news that is supposed to be published by a respected website.
Hacking a video game system in & of itself isn’t illegal. It’s not like the person is hacking into the FBI database or something major like that. If you bought it, you can do whatever you want with it as long as it doesn’t involve cheating someone.
and this not even nintendo offical website
This is cool news
Pretty sweet news if you’d dig the option of adding Chrono Trigger or Super Mario All-Stars. Essentally any game left off the tiny little replica. Nice tok now the kernel dumps, I’d be more interested in seeing someone successfully add SNES titles to it.
