U.S Nintendo Systems Claim Two-Thirds Of September Video Game Hardware Sales

In September, the Nintendo Switch system was once again the top-selling current-generation console hardware, according to the NPD Group, which tracks video game sales in the United States. This marks the third straight month that Nintendo Switch has been No. 1, and the fifth time overall in the seven months since its launch. Nintendo Switch has already surpassed 2 million units sold in the U.S. alone, and has yet to go through its first holiday shopping season.

When combined with the Nintendo 3DS family of systems and the plug-and-play Super Nintendo Entertainment System: Super NES Classic Editionsystem, Nintendo systems claimed two-thirds of the month’s total video game hardware sales.

Nintendo Switch games again occupied multiple spots in the list of best-selling individual games of the month, including Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battlefrom Ubisoft at No. 7, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild at No. 10 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe at No. 11. Also, the Metroid: Samus Returns game for the Nintendo 3DS family of systems debuted at No. 8.

Nintendo Switch aims to continue its momentum into the holidays, with the launches of Fire Emblem Warriors on Oct. 20, Super Mario Odyssey on Oct. 27, DOOM and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim from Bethesda Game Studios on Nov. 10 and Nov. 17, respectively, and Xenoblade Chronicles 2 on Dec. 1. Additionally, Nintendo 3DS will see the arrival of Fire Emblem Warriors on Oct. 20, Mario Party: The Top 100 on Nov. 10, and Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon on Nov. 17.

        ||A true veteran (Nintendo fan) has exclusively served Nintendo regardless of reasons, loyally for a minimum of 5 years, 10 years and you are a true warrior, 15 years and you are automatically promoted to Commander, 15+ and you belong to Nintendo, I have served them for about 18 exclusively with another 10 years prior supporting them, so you see, my essence is pure…||

      6. I got all the first+second party games + some more, but I haven’t had so much fun with those games. Those Neo Geo-titles have been a blessing and Golf Story is LITERARY fun. Haven’t got my copy of Fire Emblem Warriors yet!!! Bergsala have the worst embargos of all. Every single game that’s not under Bergsala is delivered on time or the day before. Bergsala? Never.
Mario is going to be GOTY. I can feel it.

      8. I have the complete Fire Emblem series, even the Japanese games, so I kind of had to buy this as well. Warriors are fun until you release it isn’t much to do other than grind.

America, land of the free and saviour of Nintendo. My own country (the United Kingdom) may fail us time and time again with terrible taste in video games, but at least there’s America…OK, I’ll be honest, I dislike most else about your country, but on this one very important thing, America comes out trumps!

    1. Our country, in terms of its structure and protections is pretty great. Politics…corruption, and stupid people on the otherhand…well…
Although our videogame choices are pretty great, collectively. Lol.

    1. It’s just another glorified update that should’ve been a day one console but instead, they rather call Switch underpowered when the other 2 had to be updated twice in 3 years to get 2080p done right.
