The Nintendo Switch has received its first video streaming application and its Hulu. The app should go live on the Nintendo Switch eShop today. Hopefully more video streaming or music apps will come to the system in the near future.
It’s a free download, as you’d expect, and there’s also a free trial available for users new to the service, but then it’ll require a paid subscription as it does on other platforms.
Thanks to Ridley Slayer and drinsane69 for the tip!
“Great now I can buy a Nintendo Switch!”
-Stupid People
I know right? But at least now the Switch is more than justified for support.
Still waiting for Netflix and web browser.
And being able to use an internet connection while docked.
Plus save backups.
IDK WTF you’re getting that but it does use WiFi on dock you fool and I was able to exchange data between cards and use them just fine. The only data I lost was Splatoon because for reason, it doesn’t back up online progress via servers which is fucking stupid.
I’m looking at my Switch and I get no internet signal. But if I put it into portable mode, I get a signal.
No need to be rude.
That’s horseshit. It works on mine. Try updating and refreshing the system.
What is wrong with you?
Either that or the dock is messed up. Buy a used one from GameStop, swap it and say that Dock is messing up the WiFi, ask for a refund soon after.
I think you might have a defect best to return that
Hopefully it’s the dock & not the Switch itself.
This means you can now watch Rick and Morty on the switch. It also means you can now watch Saved by the Bell and Quantum Leap on the switch lol
Quantum Leap is a funny one to mention since the main character is switching lives as he leaps between different historical figures.
As I said in the other article, It’s about damn time one of the streaming services is available.
Would love Netflix next.
Really good news. This addition should make the Switch feel even more worth it to people who haven’t bought one yet
“Now I can finally justify getting a Switch, a gaming system”
I hope Crunchyroll is next.
No. Netflix should be next. It’s the most popular streaming service above all else. It has fucking Rogue One And Captain America: Civil War for fucks sake. lol
Disney is pulling all content, including Star Wars and Marvel, from Netflix by the end of 2018 and isn’t putting any new content on it. They’re looking to start their own streaming service for those as well as a separate ESPN streaming service.
Of course fracturing all the TV content across different subscription services is bad for the consumer, so I wouldn’t buy into it.
Well, time to download off of MegaShare again. lol
Hence why Disney is trying to buy most of Fox’s entertainment assets. They know the more exclusive content they offer, the more people will buy their streaming service. Hell! I’ll pay for it for the right price if they can offer their stuff AND Fox’s television shows & movies.
As much as I don’t need it, I would like to see Amazon video on the Switch.
It’ll come. At least now we’re seeing it coming.
Well this was out of the blue lol it would be interesting to see how battery life is
All of those apps are really not needed since they are found in almost any device nowadays, but for those who were looking forward to use them on the Switch, good for them.
In my case I will try to stick using my Switch as a gaming device exclusively. I can watch Netflix on my Smart TV, Apple TV, phone, laptop and even my Wii U.
It’s nice for people with a monitor and/or those without a smart tv.
With a Smart TV, who needs other devices for Netflix, Hulu, WWE Network, etc, anyway, since your TV remote that you use for changing the channel, input, & volume will have a button giving you quick, instant access to all of them? Sorry if this sounds confrontational but it’s easy to say they aren’t needed on Switch when you have that kind of TV. After all, someone can easily say they aren’t needed on that Apple TV, phone, laptop, or Wii U of yours since you do have a smart TV.
yeah well… unless someone is going to donate a Smart TV to me, then I cannot I afford one. I just have to deal with the small tv I have, and that’s that. With streaming services on my Switch (I wouldn’t have to worry about switching between devices in the future if I wanted to watch something. And right now I don’t really have my other devices since my father is waiting for me to get a place of my own before he returns all of my stuff to me.) I just recently got a part-time job at stop and shop (best I could get), and so… I do NOT get paid that much just minimum wage (And in NJ that is $8.44/hr), so…
I would LOVE to have Netflix or at least choices of streaming services on my Switch, so I can watch stuff WITHOUT pirating anymore.
