Donkey Kong Country Was Originally Called “Monkey Mayhem”, & King K. Rool’s Original Name Was “Kommander K. Rool”

King K. Rool’s inclusion in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate surprised a lot of people, including the people that helped create the character so many years ago. Since then, these same people have been giving some interesting tidbits about the character. The biggest one of all showed up a few days ago. An early name sheet for the game revealed that Donkey Kong Country was originally called “Monkey Mayhem”, and King K. Rool was called “Kommander K. Rool” at this stage of development. Sqwawks was originally an owl called Hooter. Here’s the tweet that gave the name sheet:
