The SEGA Mega Drive Mini Releases Worldwide On September 19th

SEGA‘s Mega Drive Mini has been in the works for a while now. Finally, the company announced a release date at SEGA FES 2019. It will be launching worldwide on September 19th.  There will be a standard version for 6,980 yen, or approximately $70 USD, and a two-controller version that will be 8,980 yen, or approximately $90 USD. The SEGA Mega Drive Mini will contain 40 titles, and SEGA has announced the first 10. The list of games will vary, depending on the region. You can see the list of confirmed games for yourself down below.

  • Sonic the Hedgehog 2
  • Puyo Puyo 2
  • Shining Force
  • Castlevania: Bloodlines
  • Powerball
  • Gunstar Heroes
  • Comix Zone
  • Rent A Hero
  • Space Harrier II
  • Madou Monogatari I

  1. Oh shit, here I was expecting the same rehash AtGames Genesis compilation #23452, but they actually got 3rd party stuff on here and dusted off some other Sega IPs from the era. Too bad this is probably just for the Japanese releases and many of the more interesting titles get removed/swapped out. I guess an official translation for Rent-A-Hero is too much to ask.

This will be well worth of the money if they include some of the more pricey gems like Musha, Crusader of Centy, the Wily Wars, Pulseman, Alien Solider and Battle Mania: Daiginjō.

    Assuming the emulation is good…

    1. It’s got a functional cartridge slot my friend.
I was watching the livestream on youtube when it was announced.

  2. I need street fighter 2. I also want cream the rabbit and at least one babylon rogue to be playable on team sonic racing.
