Sad News: Mr. Resetti Lost His Job Due To The Auto-Save Feature In Animal Crossing New Horizons

Animal Crossing: New Horizons supports an auto-save system akin to the one found in Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp. While this feature is a welcome addition to most of the Animal Crossing players out there, it means that necessary layoffs had to be put into effect, starting with dear ol’ Mr. Resetti. According to Nintendo, the scolding mole has officially lost his job at the Reset Surveillance Center due to the upcoming game’s new feature.

“I think this will be a positive thing for the player, because in New Horizons you can stop playing in the middle of your game and it’ll still save,” said Nintendo director Aya Kyogoku in a recent interview with Mashable. “But unfortunately because there’s no necessity to reset the game or reset button on the Switch, Mr. Resetti had a hard time. He was laid off from his position.”

  1. I wonder if he’ll be a hopeless alcoholic now, it’d be funny to help him overcome it by getting him a new job

    1. Since before the Villager was added I’ve always wanted Tom Nook to be a Smash fighter, with his abilities centered around entrapping his enemies in hopeless amounts of debt.

      1. Actually, they could revamp coin battle and make it a “Tom Nook battle” where the first player out of debt wins.

  2. Wasn’t he the closest thing Animal crossing had to an antagonist? I don’t play a lot of Animal crossing games, so I wouldn’t know.

    1. He would never appear unless you turned off the game without saving. If you did so, the next time you played, before you could do anything, Mr. Resetti would show up and lecture you about how what you’re doing is a problem. Lots, and lots, and lots, and lots of text boxes later, you might decide that maybe it’s not worth it to try and cheat the game.

  3. He’s still going to be in the game he either be more chill or they’ll give him another position in which he can annoy us maybe from missing a couple of days from playtime like how your punish with weeds or just down talking or commending on how your island looks I mean all those amiibo they release just from animal crossing each and every one of the npcs better have some type of use on the island

    1. I much rather want them to go for the welcome amiibo route with inviting npcs you really want see for real (Rover, gracie, and etc) just to name a few in a special aera of the island

  4. Kind of sucks because you could cheat in Animal Crossing a bit by turning the game off without saving and reloading to get the stuff you wanted/in case you messed up.. You can’t really screw with your file as much any more.
And you can’t change the date manually in the Switch either, right? Dammit…
