For those who aren’t familiar with The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening, there’s a special item in the game called Roc’s Feather. This indispensable item will definitely come in handy as you explore the island. With it, you can jump and flip around, granting you the ability to jump over open holes. You’ll be able to try it for yourself when Link’s Awakening lands on September 20 for Nintendo Switch.

You don’t say?

Hey, I never played the original, I didn’t know this.
That said, it does seem like an incredibly minor thing to make an article about, no offense to the journalist.

If I remember correctly, the item is pretty much necessary (unless I’m confusing it for the roc’s feather in one of the Oracle games) to even finish the temple it’s found in. Which is why it’s a bit silly to even make a big deal out of it.

Its nice to see Roc’s feather was created for that purpose. I wonder if at certain places it can allow a double jump?

I have to keep reminding myself that there are adults who are too young to have memories of the original game.
That said, I have fond memories of playing the game back when it was new.

What!? Really!? Oh my god! My worldview has been shattered! *does the mind blown gesture* lol Joking aside, it was a missed opportunity to not include the Roc’s Feather or Roc’s Cape in BotW. Imagine gliding down from a cliff as if you were Super Mario from Super Mario World. *sigh* Well good thing we got BotW2, so hopefully they will rectify this. With this remake of Link’s Awakening happening, it should be fresh in the minds of the guys making BotW2.

If we got Roc’s Feather in BotW, it could have allowed Link to jump even higher than what he already could since this entry did let you make Link jump without the use of an item for the first time in the franchise’s history. Roc’s Cape, as I mentioned, would let you glide down but, I forgot to say this part, at a much faster rate than the Paraglider allowed. Got to have something to make the Roc’s Cape different from the Paraglider. Otherwise, why bother getting the cape if it just goes at the same speed as the Paraglider.

Breath of the Wild wasn’t the first game to let Link jump on his own. That would be Zelda 2: The Adventure of Link all the way back on the NES.
