Patent appears for standalone Switch Joy-Con controller

Nintendo has had an internationally registered patent filed for what appears to be a standalone Nintendo Switch Joy-Con controller. This new design doesn’t feature the traditional connectors which allow the current Joy-Cons to clip on to the Switch system, therefore making it a standalone product. As VGC notes this standalone Joy-Con could supplement last year’s Switch Lite system. We shall have to see if anything happens with this particular patent.

      1. they could honestly partner with Nvidea to make an Xbox one X sort of 4K switch. not next-gen but a step up. I think they will do a switch pro before that. but I wouldn’t be surprised if they also announced a TV only switch.
funny though, this patent shows that it has no sidebar charger, it would be nice to have wireless charging.
