UK: Mario Kart 8: Deluxe has sold more physical copies in 2020 than it did in 2019

UK video game journalist Christopher Dring has revealed on Twitter that the enhanced Wii U port of Mario Kart 8 on Nintendo Switch, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, has shifted more physical copies in 2020 than it did the previous year, 2019. In fact this has been the case each year since the game launched on the Nintendo Switch back on 28th April 2017. As Mr. Dring notes, this isn’t bad for an upgraded port!

  1. This is insane. This is the equivalent of defying physics lol an old game selling better and better each year at full price on top of that.

When every other game has a peak the first year and falls with each year.

It’s better than team sonic racing. I like team sonic racing but it’s not as good as Mario Kart 8 and Crash Team Racing nitro fueled since it lacks cream the rabbit (technique), sticks the badger (speed), Tikal the echidna (power), Espio the chameleon (speed), Charmy bee (technique), Chaos Zero (power), Jet the hawk (speed), wave the swallow (technique), storm the albatross (power), Aiai (power), Ulala (speed), NiGHTS (technqiue), Reala (technique), Samba de Amigo (speed) and Billy Hatcher (power).

  3. I wish Nintendo took advantage of this and released more updates/DLC with new tracks and cups :/ I am playing this game since 2014 and frankly I got bored of the same 48 tracks on repeat for 6 years now. There is such potential… same with Mario Odyssey… I really don’t know what’s Nintendos way of thinking here, but it makes no sense to me.
