Official Halo Instagram account shares Mario & Halo crossover artwork

If you keep up to date with all things Xbox, then you may have seen an interesting (and extremely awesome) piece of artwork crop up on Halo’s very own official Instagram page. The Mario and Halo crossover fan art was originally posted by 343 employee ‘Snickerdoodle’ via a community highlight blog, and the Halo Instagram account thought to highlight it further and showcase it very recently on the popular photo focussed social media site. Not only is the depiction of Mario and Co. simply brilliant, but it has yet again raised questions about potential happenings in the gaming world, specifically when it comes to people wanting Master Chief to come to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Another interesting Xbox / Nintendo Switch point raised recently was surrounding Xbox’s, Phil Spencer. He’s not been hesitant to publicly praise Nintendo in the past and viewers of a recent online video pointed out the hybrid console sitting proudly on the top of his shelving unit at home.

In the past, Phil Spencer has placed items on his shelves that hint at future releases – he even unveiled the Xbox Series S before Microsoft fully unveiled it to the public – so it’s interesting to see the Switch among the other merchandise. It’s also worth noting that fans have pointed out that the console only recently appeared there; it’s not seen on the shelves or in shot in previous videos.

Finally, a known leaker on Reddit has stated that there should be news about a future collaboration between Microsoft and Nintendo shared later this year. Whether or not we actually will hear anything is obviously up for debate and should be treated as a rumour until we hear anything official.

  1. I would think this is hinting towards an Nintendo getting bought out by Microsoft, but there are laws that would prevent that. Maybe the next Series X model will be portable?

    1. Are there? All I know about the last time Microsoft tried to buy Nintendo they were literally laughed out of their office. I don’t think I ever want to see Nintendo bought out, not by Microsoft and especially not by Disney.

    2. Yeah because that’s how companies do things. They tease major acquisitions by posting fanart on Twitter accounts lol. What a dumb leap in logic.

    3. Your comment doesnt make sense, Nintendo will never sell and it’s one of the best driven business. MS works already for a long time with nintendo. Games from MS are released on switch, you have the brawl relationship. Maybe MS will get ninendo figures in Halo or something like that. But the idea that they would release a portable version by showing a switch is a big joke.

    4. Why would a drawing of Mario characters in halo armour ever be a indication of buyout!? Absolutely ridiculous! 😂

    5. I actually think this is going to be MS first party games coming to switch. Hear me out now

MS used to have a rule that it would only release it’s games on Nintendo consoles as long as they weren’t on home consoles, ei portables. That’s how we got those Banjo games on the GBA, those Zoo Tycoon, Viva Piñata, B&W, and Blue Dragon game’s on the DS. Even that pitched Halo game on the DS (that has gameplay) but never came to fruition.

Seeing as how close they’ve been lately, and how much easier it is to scale these last gen games to switch, AND with the new Switch rumors holding more weight, I can even see some of the newer/current games ported to the Switch/Switch Pro.

I can’t see MS buying off Nintendo, but stranger things have happened, so we can’t rule anything out.

  2. Well didn’t see that coming. Maybe this was intended to be the crossover between mario and Halo series. I can see why this didn’t came true to the Xbox systems back then.
