A Zelda & Loftwing Skyward Sword HD amiibo is releasing on July 16th

Every once in a while, Nintendo releases a new first-party game that also receives some amiibo. The most recent Nintendo game to get amiibo was Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury. Well, if you’ve been wanting Nintendo to release even more amiibo this year, and the Smash Ultimate amiibo releases haven’t been enough to satisfy you, then there’s some good news.

Nintendo has announced the Zelda & Loftwing amiibo. The amiibo, which “features two characters on a single base and can be used to travel between the surface and the sky in The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD”, will be releasing on July 16th, the same day that The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD is launching. The announcement tweet is down below.

  1. ” This amiibo features two characters on a single base and can be used to travel between the surface and the sky . . .”

Does this mean if you scan it, you can effectively fast travel to the sky without having to find one of the bird/save statues? If that’s what that means…

    HALLEI-FREAKIN’-LUIAH.

I don’t know that I’ll get Skyward Sword HD as I still have my Wii copy of the game, but that amiibo would look great on my shelf…

  2. Being able to save your place and warp out of a dungeon seems broken. Imagine if Pokemon let you save your spot in the E4 to go heal up, buy items and change your team then return to where you were because you paid an extra $15.

  3. I hope the other Zelda (character) amiibo have this function too. If not, then sure I’ll buy it. It looks nice

    1. I think other Zelda amiibo will have different functions like in the other games. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Ganondorf amiibo does the double health loss thing again like it does in TP HD.

      1. Yeah same, but I mean the Zelda Zelda amiibo. I have a Toon Zelda amiibo and I’m pretty sure I’ve got the Smash Bros. Zelda amiibo too, and I’m hoping they’ll have the same function as this new SS Zelda amiibo

  4. An convenient feature locked behind a paywall and a slew of unnecessary dialogue boxes. Feels very Skyward Swordy.
Figure itself is really nice though so at least one could pick up that and skip on the game.

  5. Bummer. I would have preferred an amiibo of Zelda in what I call the goddess outfit. And an amiibo of Link (before the green tunic) & his red loftwing. Still gonna get this one, though.

  6. Oh and…

    Nintendo: we won’t do microtransactions.

Also Nintendo: buy this awesome limited time only figurine that just so happens to do something in your game. We swear it’s not a microtransaction.

Nintendo apologist: but it’s just a bonus for people who bought the figurine.

Sane person: yeah but what about those that don’t want the figurine but the bonus?

Nintendo apologist: insert bullshit excuse here

Sane person: here’s some toilet paper. Wipe the shit off your nose.

… What!? I’m bored! Sue me! Lol
