Blizzard says Overwatch 2 for Nintendo Switch will feature “some compromises”

The long-awaited sequel to the impressive multiplayer title Overwatch 2 is destined for the Nintendo Switch and other platforms next year. Whilst we haven’t really seen much of the game, a number of the developers behind Overwatch 2 participated in a Reddit Ask me Anything thread. One question posed to the team was regarding the Switch version of the game. The question was answered by Overwatch 2 technical director, John Lafleur, who said that clearly the platform is more challenging than others, so there could be compromisers made. However, they are planning to include as much content as they possibility can and possibly add some additional features just for Switch. Read Mr. Lafleur response below:

“Switch is a little more challenging than some, and we’ll have to make some compromises there. For that reason, some of the higher-end visual enhancements might not be visible, there. We’ll focus on making sure all of the gameplay-related features get in, first, and then accentuate with additional features as much as possible.”

They say that like if Overwatch 2 is a high demanding graphics game… It’s literally almost the same as the first one…

  2. I mean, if the first Overwatch on Switch is anything to go by… That only runs at 30FPS compared to 60FPS on every other console, and everything looks kind of muddy past a certain in-game distance.
