Mortal Kombat 11 has now sold 12 million copies and Mortal Kombat series has sold 73 million copies in total

Ed Boon, who is one of the creators behind the Mortal Kombat series, has tweeted this afternoon that the Mortal Kombat series has now sold over 73 million console games since its inception in 1992 on the Super Nintendo and SEGA Mega Drive. The latest game in the series Mortal Kombat 11 which is available on numerous platforms has also shifted an impressive 12 million copies.

“When Mortal Kombat launched nearly 30 years ago, I never dreamed it would grow into the franchise it is today with more than 73 million games sold,” said Ed Boon, Creative Director at NetherRealm Studios and Co-Creator of Mortal Kombat. “We have some of the most passionate fans in the world and we appreciate the support they have shown us over the years.”
