Lance Barr, the chap behind the design of the iconic Nintendo Entertainment System and the Super Nintendo, has officially retired from the Kyoto-based company. Mr. Barr had been with Nintendo for almost four decades and is now working on other smaller projects. Barr was tasked with redesigning the Nintendo Entertainment System and the Super Nintendo for the US market and helped create the front loading mechanism found in the Nintendo Entertainment System due to engineering requirements that were aimed at reducing costs at Nintendo.
