A patch fixing “gameplay bugs” related to Resident Services in Animal Crossing New Horizons Happy Home Paradise is coming this month

Today was the release of the Animal Crossing: New Horizons Happy Home Paradise DLC, which had been announced by Nintendo a couple of months ago. Unfortunately, as with the release of Metroid Dread on October 8th, it hasn’t exactly been a completely smooth experience for some players.

Nintendo’s official Australia and New Zealand account has mentioned that “Animal Crossing New Horizons players who own the Happy Home Paradise DLC may experience gameplay bugs if they visit Resident Services and ask to remodel a resident’s home while the gates at their airport are open. We recommend players to not attempt to remodel an island resident’s home while the gates at their airport are open. As long as the airport gates are closed, you should not encounter these gameplay bugs when remodeling residents’ homes on your island”.

Nintendo says that, if you encounter these bugs, end the gameplay session, close the game, and re-launch it. According to Nintendo, your save file will not be affected. As for a fix, Nintendo confirmed that they will “share more details soon, and a patch to fix this issue will be released this month”. Their tweets about the matter are down below.

  1. I’m surprised the game even lets you do that with the gates open/wireless connectivity on. Didn’t a lot of features deactivate in old AC games when multiple players were in a town? If I remember right, the llamas/alpacas (don’t remember their species or names; the couple that ran the retail shop and could customize some furniture in New Leaf) were not available during wireless play, for example.
