Yuji Naka has now been formally charged for insider trading

The Tokyo District Public Prosecutors Office has said this evening that famed video game creator, Yuji Naka, has been formally charged alongside Square Enix employee, Taisuke Sasaki. Both were arrested last month after Naka purchased ¥144.7 million yen of Square Enix stock as he learned that the company were planning  the Final Fantasy spin-off, Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier, before it was officially unveiled by the company, knowing that the stock would surge. Sasaki also purchased ¥105 million yen worth of stock ahead of the announcement by Square Enix. They have both been formally charged with insider trading by the Tokyo District Public Prosecutors Office.

  1. Iizuka’s grand vision!

All of this is sus. Naka represents the era were Sonic was last good, as well as the highly praised Sonic Adventure 1 & 2. Iizuka and Kishimoto created Sonic Frontiers as a game they expect everyone to love (in the form of an open-world BotW clone). Iizuka has Flynn spout absolutes about a lot of the franchise’s lore.

SEGA is more interested in BOTW’s insane review scores (despite being a different genre) than the thing everyone wants the return of, and is willing to get rid of anything (and anyone) connected to the identity of those games.

    1. So Naka does a wrongdoing decades after he left Sega and yet somehow, everyone within Sega who are directly involved with Sonic are the suspicious ones.
      Thats quite the conspiracy theory…
