You may not have known this, but there has been an investigation going on in Japan in regards to Square Enix. You see, the company is under investigation for insider trading in relation to a new Dragon Quest game.
So far, Taisuke Sazaki and Fumiaki Suzuki have been arrested for acquiring stock in Japanese developer Aiming just before Square Enix announced a new Dragon Quest game. Well, former Square Enix employee and Sonic the Hedgehog creator Yuji Naka has now been arrested too.
Yuji Naka is accused of purchasing approximately 10,000 shares of Aiming stock for around 2,800,000 yen, or $20,000, just before Dragon Quest Tact was announced. This was when Naka was still working for Square Enix for Balan Wonderworld.
It is being suspected that all 3 individuals may have intentionally used insider information to sell the stock again at a later date, when the stock’s value increased. Meanwhile, Square Enix has issued a statement, saying that they have been cooperating with all parties involved with conducting the investigation, including the Tokyo District Public Prosecutors Office and Securities and Exchange Surveillance Commission. Square Enix also said that “we deeply regret the great concern this has caused to all concerned. We have dealt with this incident strictly, including internal disciplinary actions taken against the suspected employees”.
Having played it, im not surprised Balan is cursed.
Well I never thought he would get arrested too during this. So, what will happen now since Square Enix make Balan Wonderworld at a poor state.
What if in the first place Naka got his ass kicked from Square Enix because this investigation?
Honestly, Square Enix basically doesn’t even care much about their fans and they used a fan cover in Balan Wonderworld without crediting the artist for the music during development as Naka pointed out during his removal. Square Enix is basically the blame for all of this because the producer behind the Wonderworld game treated him like a filthy dog. Naka may have lost the battle, but not yet the war.
What you’re telling is the “official” version… But what if Naka has been under investigation and it led to his firing from Balan wonderworld?

I can only imagine what Konami would be capable of, if they ever decide to get really nasty with someone they despise. And I haven’t even gotten to Nintendo.

No one is defending square enix, it’s a what if escenario:
WHAT IF Naka was fired because of the trading investigation, remember that this is a delicate situation and NDA must have been signed.
WHAT IF Naka lied about his firing.

Anyway replying to @sonicgalaxy, yes I hope the man wins that balan lawsuit but no matter if he wins…he will lose because his reputation is tarnished by the trading scandal and no one would want to work with him again.

-Having Sonic as the only playable character for over a decade.
-“Only male hedgehogs can go super”.
-Trying to connect vastly different Sonic continuities into one “cohesive” universe.
-Refusing to port Sonic Unleashed (HD) and Sonic Generations (console) to modern systems, namely Nintendo.
-Firing the Ryan Drummond-era voice cast
-Shelving several Sonic Team IPs outside of the Sonic franchise.
-Etc.

It’s almost like the world is bending in favor of Iizuka and his stupid ass directions.
Yuji Naka MADE the Adventure games and kept things semi-decent until Sonic 2006. He’s also one of the reasons why Paramount realized they released a shitty design for Movie!Sonic, listened to everyone else’s complains too (people who are often ignored by shallow Hollywood studios), and delayed the movie to fix things. Sure he left SEGA, but with him out of the picture, what chance does the Adventure brand have if Iizuka suddenly decides he’s allergic to games that had heavy involvement from Naka.
