The latest physical video game charts have come through from the largest gaming market in Europe, the United Kingdom, for the week ending 28th January, 2023. Last week’s No.1, the latest game in the Fire Emblem series, Fire Emblem Engage, has sadly been pushed down the charts at No.7 as sales dropped by 76% in its second week on sale. The No.1 game this week is the Dead Space remake from EA which Games Industry says was “easily the best-selling game” this week. There’s also another new entry at No.4 and that’s Square Enix’s RPG, Forspoken which launched to disappointing reviews. Here’s the GfK UK Boxed Top Ten:

  1. Looks like Pokemon Violet suffered too, with Scarlet not even there. The Pokemon titles sold very well. But to be frank, they had a very drawing open world appeal, but it soon leaves you with not a lot to do. I had more fun playing Legends Arceus and Brilliant Diamond then I did with these. It took me 8 weeks on the former games, but only 4 weeks to complete the newer games. I ended up wishing that I only paid half the price I did for it, as for a would be new generation of Pokemon, it’s complete rubbish. And the new forms if any from the old Pokemon such wooper and tauros, looks like someone spilt a pot of dark paint on them. A very minimal effort from gamefreak. If only they could have made it more special by allowing us to visit the alternate world of the past and future. That would have made these games worth while.

  2. I had high hopes that Forspoken would do well. Not that I thought it would, but I was curious to see how well the Luminous Studio-engine was faring, and give it some momentum. Proprietary engine are fascinating, but the PC hardware demand has been mindbogglingly high.

  3. Maybe hiring a glorified Vtuber artist as the character designer and do 3D modeling for your unity based game wasn’t a good idea after all. FE Engage might of work as an original ip but other than that it’s an uninspired mess that is bad as Paper Mario Sticker Star but worst than FE Echoes.

    1. Maybe take your meds.

Mika Pikazo is a famous artist with major gallery exhibitions and artbooks, has worked on the Fate series, and yes has done some work for Cover Corporation. Many famous and illustrious illustrators also do designs for major corporate vtuber agencies, alongside anime, manga, games, and art exhibition work.
