  1. I thought Sunbreak was an “expansion” so how can it be awarded best game. Monster Hunter Rise is the base game, a stand alone title and Sunbreak is an expansion that adds additional content. Technically Sunbreak isn’t a game It’s an expansion, so how can it be awarded best game.

    1. They’re the award givers, they make the rules. They could give it to a movie if they felt like it.

If they think Sunbreak was better than any of those other games then sure, why not? My biggest contention is how Pokémon Scarlet and Violet ends up on a list called “Awards for Excellence”. That’s far more egregious in my opinion.

    2. It’s essentially another game. This has always been the trend in Japan we refer to it as DLC / Expansion, this is not the case. It has as much content plus more than base game.

  2. They gave Pokemon Scarlet and Violet an award in “Excellence.” That’s all you need to know about their poor judgement tbh

  3. Read this elsewhere earlier and had to laugh. These awards are a complete JOKE. Sunbreak released around summer last year. Never mind that it’s DLC to the base game Monster Hunter: Rise which is even older.

Want further proof? They gave Pokémon Scarlet and Violet an award for EXCELLENCE. 🤣🤣🤣
