It’s been roughly half a year since The Super Mario Bros. Movie made its cinematic debut, and it continues to capture audiences worldwide through various platforms. Now, fans in Japan are in for a special treat as a unique version of the film is set to grace 4D-compatible theaters. Nintendo announced on October 3, 2023, that The Super Mario Bros. Movie will return to select cinemas in Japan for a limited-time screening. These theaters offer immersive 4D experiences, adding an extra layer of excitement to the Mario movie.

The announcement, posted on the Nintendo Japan website, specifies that the Super Mario Bros. Movie will be exclusively shown in select 4D-compatible theaters for one week. Japanese audiences will have the opportunity to enjoy the film once again from Friday, October 13, to Thursday, October 19. This special screening is referred to as the “Special Japanese Version” of the film. Additionally, attendees will receive a limited-availability clear file as a collectible souvenir, featuring retro-style artwork of Mario and Luigi that resembles a business card. Nintendo has emphasized that these clear files are available in limited quantities, so fans should act promptly to secure theirs.

  1. Has anyone here had experience with 4D? I’ve been to one and it wasn’t a very pleasant experience between the rapid puffs of air being blown in my face, the “motion sense” just being like a kicking sensation to my waist, and strobe lights that basically forced my eyes shut because they were so bright. It was more of a nuisance than anything.
