Amazon and Twitch have confirmed in an email that the Twitch app for the Nintendo Switch family of consoles will be discontinued and removed on 31st January 2024. It is not clear why Amazon has decided to ditch the Nintendo Switch app. Here’s the email which ResetEra user mrmickfran received from the company:
Hello,
We are reaching out to let you know that we have made the hard decision to remove the Twitch App from the Nintendo Switch. The app will be removed January 31, 2024.

That’s fine. The twitch app on the Switch seriously sucks, or at least it did when I used it. It didn’t even have a search function!
Never even bothered with the app in the first place.
To be honest i forgot it even existed.

I watch streams on Twitch on occasion but it’s nothing i can’t live without.
