Japan: Nintendo has canceled Nintendo Live Tokyo 2024 due to threats against staff

Many Japanese gamers were champing at the bit to attend Nintendo Live Tokyo 2024 and today Nintendo has unfortunately had to cancel the event due to threats against staff. Nintendo says that the safety of its staff is paramount and they have to come first. This also means that the Splatoon 3 World Championship 2024, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Online Challenge Final Stage, and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe World Championship 2024, which were due to take place during the event, are also postponed. The Kyoto-based company said that they hope to reschedule Nintendo Live Tokyo 2024 at a later date.

  1. Those people who are throwing threats are people still living in the wii u era, also it is wrong now and was wrong back then.

  2. Thanks for the news Sickr, but I think there was a slight typo; I think it’s meant to be “chomping at the bit” and not “champing at the bit.” Thanks again for the news!

  3. This is a pity, but on the other hand, Nintendo needs to employ better event planners and coordinators for these kinds of live gatherings. They shut down all Fire Emblem related events and killed the TCG in 2020 due to covid and since then, there is little compensation.
