The individual accused of sending Nintendo bomb threats around the time of Nintendo Live in Tokyo has admitted to the charges that he’s been charged with by prosecutors. The individual, who is 27, is currently accused of sending 39 bomb threats to the Kyoto–based company and is currently on trial. Admitting to the charges against him he said that “The more I lost [in Splatoon 3], the more frustrated I would become.” The prosecution in the case is looking at a 1 year prison sentence and the final verdict is expected on 24th July.

I get intrusive thoughts when I get annoyed with a video game, too. I even verbalize it sometimes. But actually call up a video game company & actually threaten them, no. Just no. If it EVER went that far for me, I’d plead guilty on the condition I’m sent some place where I can get some serious help from a psychiatrist or therapist. Because, in the words of Carlito, that’s not cool.
I don’t expect anyone else to know this guy, but as soon as I saw the headline I immediately thought of a Splatoon player named putz12 and thought it might be him doing this. If you’re not familiar with the guy, he’s kind of known for raging at the game, making stupid plays (for example, grabbing the Rainmaker when the rest of his team is down, getting focused and splatted, and then blaming his teammates for not backing him up), and somehow having a full block list.
It’s sad and funny at the same time.
