Rachael Lillis, best known for providing the English voices of Misty and Jessie in the Pokémon anime, passed away on August 10th, 2024 at the age of 55 after a battle with breast cancer.
Fellow actress Veronica Taylor and voice of Ash Ketchum broke the news on X, calling Lillis a “bright light” who will be “forever remembered” for the roles she played.
Beyond Misty and Jessie, Lillis also voiced Jigglypuff in the Super Smash Bros series of fighting games, as well as several characters in other anime, including Stella from Fate/Stay Night, Cocco from Hunter x Hunter, and Utena from Revolutionary Girl Utena.
On May 12th, 2024, her family disclosed that she had been fighting against cancer and that a fundraiser on GoFundMe had been started to help her in her fight.
Since then, the family has shared that she was thankful and had been “moved to tears” by the support she had received.
Any donations made now will go towards covering her remaining medicial costs, the memorial service, and causes that she would have supported- such as fighting cancer.

Misty was my top 10 favorite female Pokemon character. I can’t believe Rachael Lillis die from the worse tragic sick disease that people has to face. It feels like a burden to them. Sometimes life can be cruel at the end. R.I.P. :-(
