Retro Game Corps, an emulation channel with over half a million subscribers has had a video taken down for the second time at Nintendo’s insistence.
The channel’s owner, Russ, took to X to share the details:
As mentioned in the post, Russ was considering a counter-claim on the grounds of fair use, but instead decided to change how the channel’s videos were made- removing any footage or references to Nintendo games going forward.
Time Extension noted in their report on the matter that the first takedown against Retro Game Corps had to do with a video centered on a device that allowed Nintendo Switch games to be dumped to PC, which clearly drew the ire of the Big N.
Meanwhile, this second takedown had to do with a video about emulating WIi U games, which, again, Russ claims to be fair use, as the console is no longer being supported.
Either way, Retro Game Corps will remain in Nintendo’s crosshairs until it can prove itself to no longer be a threat.
And if this incident is any indicator, other channels of the same nature may also be at risk of having their videos taken down, unless they follow Russ’ lead.

He shows people how to steal and emulate Nintendo’s property. I fail to see how he thinks this is “fair use”. These people do realize just saying “It’s fair use” does not make it fair use lol. Steal the roms all ya want I could care less – but making a Youtube career out of showing people how to do it is obviously stupid.
Russ has never once shown people how to steal Nintendo property. Your comment is misguided and misinformed.
Making money off Nintendo’s property and emulate their games that you don’t own is pretty a reckless thing to do on the platform.
Making a video on a device that can dump Nintendo Switch games while the console is still relevant is a bold move, who could’ve guessed Nintendo would want to take that down.
That tool makes an exact copy of your own physical games. Sucks you’re on Nintendo side and don’t value the idea of being allowed to back up your own games.
nintendo sounds scared as shit with the release of this console
Nintendo is also suing Santa for going down chimneys like they’re warp pipes.
Nintendo not liking Switch emulators makes sense, but WiiU?
I think this crusade is just as strange as the rest, but I suppose to look at it from their perspective most Wii U games are also on Switch.
If steamdeck can almost emulate switch games (in some way, but not all), the switch 2 will be able todo it as well. But no need for that as it can do it native. However, as switch is more powerfull as wii u, it would mean that switch would also be able to emulate wii u games, right?
In their site they say the unauthorized emulation of any console is not allowed. I don’t know why you think only current consoles are not allowed.
Retro Game Corps channel is filled with retro consoles which emulate nes and snes games without Nintendo’s authorization. These games are constantly made available on NSO, which means they are still being available. Even though they are old, it is still piracy, because they didn’t approve the way these games are available.
NEEEEEEEERD!!!
sigh I know what’s next, Nintendo. Just update the Switch firmware already.
Nintendo also sues black-haired Italian men who happen to have mustaches and wore overalls at one point in their lives. Those named Luigi get a slap on the wrist.
Since Nintendo does whatever they want anyway, so can I. And I choose to say:
Fuck Nintendo!
My YouTube channel has terminated for reuploading Retro Game Corps’s video… https://bsky.app/profile/aidanemolga10.bsky.social/post/3l5lsfgvxbv2b
People still haven’t understood that emulation in this specific case is totally illegal even if it’s about old things… What for? because the creative society is opposed to it, which is perfectly within its rights, contrary to what some people say here!
Sofiona will never know the joy of owning a miyoo mini. Very sad
