The incredible JRPG company Monolith Soft, responsible for the wonderful Xenoblade Chronicles franchise amongst others, is continuing to ramp up its employee count. The latest employee count is 299 as of December 2024, that’s the latest figure we have. The next game in the Xenoblade Chronicles series is a remaster of the acclaimed Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition for the Nintendo Switch. Our review of the game will be coming soon.
Monolith Soft’s employee count continues to increase

That image is actually what Monolith Soft looks like, too. They all live in a giant robot. Moved out of the submarine last month.
Love to see them doing well. The fact that they can produce JRPG masterpieces in so little time puts much of the industry to shame.
GOATed devs!
Love and passion always win baby
What was the last reported number?
It’s always fun to dream and have a hobby. It’s almost at 300.
Idk the last reported number prior to this, all i’ve found is from April 2021 they had 272 employees.
I would love to see a collab developed action rpg between Monolith Soft and Platinum Games, preferably a new crack at what Scalebound was becoming but redone from the ground up to avoid a lawsuit by Microsoft.
Imagine an action RPG that plays similar to Astral Chain and that new Ninja Gaiden 4 game by Platinum Games, but with an explorable open world a d story similar to the Xenoblade Chronicles games done by Monolith Soft.
Look up gameplay videos for Scalebound and imagine if Platinum and Monolith collaborated on to bring that style of gameplay into a new action rpg.
Now think about Nintendo funding it for the Switch 2.
Just imagine how good that game would be.
I know this is just a pipe dream that will never happen, but it would be the best game if done right.
Are there any hints or rumors about a brand-new Xenoblade Chronicles title in development for future Nintendo hardware?
Wow, 299 employees! Does a bigger team mean a faster development cycle? In my experience, not always! More people can bring more ideas but also more complexity. I really hope the “Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition” lives up to the hype, though.
