Nintendo has announced the price of the Nintendo Switch 2. The standard SKU of the system will cost $449.99 USD and the Mario Kart World bundle will be $499.99 USD. Unlike the original Nintendo Switch, there will be no colour variations at launch. Pre-orders will begin in North America on April 9th, 2025 at participating retailers.
Pre-orders for Nintendo Switch 2 open April 8th/9th, priced at $449/£395 for standard, $499/£430 for Mario Kart World bundle

Woof. 50% increase from the $300 price tag of Switch 1.
Though I wonder if the threat and fear of tariffs have anything to do with it.
no, its the same everywhere.
I see. That’s one relief, I suppose.
No its not. convert the price from UK to US, then it cost $66 more in the UK.
Yup it’s the tariffs you clown
@Zant84
or it could be that the tech inside is what determined its price and not the tariffs you bigger clown.
You could be possibly right. It has to be the specs itself for letting the price to be increased.
I’m calling OP a clown for thinking it was bc of tariffs..you clown 🤡 obviously it’s all that tech.
Yes, insult people who may have to budget properly because the live alone and have to pay for everything.
I might be a clown, but you’re just a prick.
Ah. I told myself I wouldn’t be surprised if it was $399 at the very least. Still not shocked. It looked to be a massive upgrade after all.
And let’s not forget that the price of chips has climbed…
But I admit that it is a lot
Mmmm well this is a small disappointment for the increase for the system. I’m not that surprised. It’s almost 500$. They never spoken about the system price during it’s presentation.
Because it is not Nintendo that sets the prices but the distribution… Nintendo only gives “recommended” sales prices, free to retailers to increase or decrease this price…
Is that the reason why it cost a little more much then their development kits that they have before like the Switch Pro?
For some context. $300 in 2017 is equivalent to $392 in 2025 with inflation. So this is in all reality $58 more than the Switch 1 price at launch. Still stings though :D
Apparently £400 or £430 (MK) in the UK.
While I think thats a lot it kind of feels standard.
Feels like taking a blow to the head right?
Was what I was expecting to be honest.
The japanese pricing has two tier with the standard set (japanese language only) 50k yen and the multi-language option 70k yen lol. my guess is so dollar people won’t just import instead of paying 450.
The “standard set” is not only limited to only have Japanese language, it also won’t support Nintendo account outside Japan and unable to buy games on eShop outside Japan (similar to the state of Chinese version of Switch 1) 😭
thanks trump
No, thanks inflation.
@Lucas Rossi
no i blame the dems for ruining everything therefore they are the ones creating inflation.
