While not official news, it does seem as though those who had issues with the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller’s D-Pad will be pleased to hear that the input issue has been fixed with the revised Pro Controller for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. The report comes from a user on Reddit who tested out the D-Pad at the Amsterdam Nintendo Experience event. We will know for certain once the system is out in the wild.
Rumour: Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller’s D-Pad apparently fixed

I didn’t know there was an issue in the first place. I love my Switch 1 Pro Controller. The only complaint I have about it is that we didn’t have it sooner in the Wii U days.
I vastly preferred the Wii U Pro controller. Clicky D-pad, great analog sticks, best battery life ever.
It had a noticeable (for most people) tendency for accidental diagonals. It was most noticeable in games that relied heavily on the dpad and precise inputs, such as retro-styled games or the NSO classic offerings.
Switch procon dpad is physically smaller than the ones on earlier controllers – WiiU, SNES etc. Slightly easier to accidentally, input a diagonal for that reason,
skill issue imo.
Please let this be true 😭🙏
I hope this is the real deal.
This would be great if it’s true.
I did not know there was an issue until recently. The last time I played super Metroid was on the SNES mini. But I recently started a replay on my switch…I am having a hard time being as precise as normal. Then I started seeing articles on the pro controller D-Pad. Only took me most of the decade to figure it out.
The OG switch 1 pro controller was not as good for 2D fighters like Street fighter.i got the Xenoblade edition and it was an improvement. Will need to test pro 2 with street fighter special moves.
I’ve literally never had an issue with the d-pad, it’s my favorite controller for PC and Switch.
Hope it’s true. It was serviceable but nothing special. Personally I like the metal disc on the xbox elite.
The d-pad on the pro controller is indeed awful so hopefully this is true!
More let down posting.
“They say it’s better!… Let’s hope so guys! Am I right?”
“Awwww it WASN’T fixed! What a huge let down!”
Just why?
You’re fun vampires…
Playing Tetris 99 on a Switch 1 Pro Controller is sad
I play a lot of F-Zero 99 on the pro controller. You have to hold down to land a jump smoothly. The Switch Pro D-pad sometimes does a lot of crazy down/right inputs and causes wild turns which leads to crash outs. I had to remap down to ZL and then just set down to do nothing.
The Pro Controller d-pad wasn’t great but people’s mileage varied (possibly depending on individual controllers) so I wouldn’t trust it’s been fixed until it’s in a few more people’s hands.
